Wedding tomorrow Saturday.

Bricking it a bit as it has been years since i've done a wedding. I've been doing mostly birthday parties and anniversaries.

Everything checked I think and I have plenty of time to setup so it should all be ok.

Wish me luck!

Break a leg, I'm sure you will be fine.

Just double check the B&Gs names and make sure you have their first dances and last dances, play them to make sure your CDs/mp3s haven't been damaged since the last time you played them.

Yep - treat it as a normal party. That's what they'll be expecting.

Nothing for me this weekend either - off to Eden Project on Saturday with some of the family.

One wedding tomorrow night at the venue which is just round the corner from me so sorted.

Just turned down a no show at 6:30 this evening as my wife is making a nice meal for us tonight after I have been out doing weddings every Friday and Saturday all over August - felt really sorry for them, but should have booked a pro first time round. Hopefully the agency we do a bit for have sorted them. When will people learn?

Happy roadie birthday and wedding will be fine dude, its like riding a bike (DJ a wedding, not getting wed - just in case someone gets the wrong idea)

If the numbers are movin', the decks a runnin'

Had a wedding last night, really good night with a really wide range of music and the venue took some cards to recomend me :)

Then today I had to be up at 7am to drop off a PA hire in alvechurch. Had a wedding at my hotel res tonight but that cancelled, but will still be paid and have 3 other DJs out doing Weddings, so not a bad weekend all in all.

Nice and local tonight a wedding but the couple have said that they'll bring the songs they want on cds with them. :( This is something that I try to avoid doing cause I prefer to use my own so hopefully it'll all be fine

Might give this led uplighting a go tonight - which seems to be the latest idea? tongue out icon

I had a cracking night. Dancefloor packed from start to finish! That's all the appreciation I need. The first wedding i've done it years and I remember they have the distinct advantage that people are well oiled by the time you start. tonight they were running late. We started at 9:30, finished 12:30.

I had an all day wedding today. Left home at 1.30pm. Lots of work went into the preparation. The guests were asked for requests when the invites were sent out. Made sure all the requests were included and the dance floor........................... was empty for most of the night!

The bride was local but a lot of her family come from up north. They were more interested in chatting and catching up than dancing. Some had to get back home and left after the first dance. The dance floor was only busy for the last hour but there was a nice friendly atmosphere from the time they arrived at the venue.

It wasn't a big wedding, only about 40 for the sit down meal. A few more arrived for the evening but after those that left to get home, I counted about 35 in total for the evening.

We were set up behind the top table:

A few pics from last night. sorry about the quality.

Lighting

2 x Par 64 LED's for uplight

2 x ADJ Mega Bars for Floor Fill

2 x Martin EFX500

1 x Impossibled.

This is going to be my new regular rig.

Screens displayed a slideshow of pictures. I can recommend this, it keeps people on the dance floor looking a pictures if nothing else.

I had a 13th last night. The whole booking process was a nightmare, and the client was a little "off". I found out a few weeks ago, I was being booked by the birthday girl..

Anyway, payment was made in full, in advance, and we got there early hoping for an early set-up.

The Venue was "Hornsey Vale Community Centre", North London.

Very helpful caretaker/manager, always a good thing.

Set-up was quick, sound test was ok - but the room acoustics were terrible... Massive reverb :-(

I took a recent acquired bubble machine, and smoke machine.

Lights/Effects;

2 x Cobalt Equinox

2 x Little Leds

1 x Dynaroll

1 x DTS 250 Moving Head

1 x Smoke Machine

1 x Bubble Machine

All lights were DMXed, so I had good control.

The LED's were very good in such a big hall, but I think you really need some something moving (ie DynaRoll or a scanner etc) to break it all up a bit.

Photos;

I was given a fairly long playlist, some were really too slow for the crowd, but the list was pretty good. (well, apart from Soulja Boy...)

House lights off, a quick announcement, and off we went.. Que, 130 screaming teenagers who started bouncing up and down for the next 1 1/2hours.

The acoustics were causing problems when I needed to make announcements, but they didn't want a chatty DJ (which was good!)

We did the birthday cake, got the girl up for a quick speech, more chart music (also threw in "you sexy thing" - on playlist).

Last song, I made the announcement - "Ok, for this next track, I need absolutely *everyone* on the dance floor" - pausing for dramatic effect ;)

Then cracked on with "Cha Cha Slide". More screaming and happy 12/13yr olds..

I made another announcement, asking the guests to thank xxx's parents for making the night possible, and then house lights on after the applause.

All in all, a good night. Not a high payer, but I left knowing I'd helped give the birthday girl a great party and we got home at 11pm - just in time to unload, and watch a film with a bottle of something nice!

Had a good night fair play. Not many people there but they were all up for a party, did their first dance at 9.30 and finished at 12.45 so home nice and early for a change. Tried some up lighting but I recon its needs a bit more work. This venue has very low cellings so could'nt really put the stands up very high the lights seem to be pointing into the crowd rather the down onto them. Each time I go there I try something different with the set-up, think I'm nearly there.
