Think i have around 10 days in 1 and 14 in other - currently working 19 hours a day and feeling it now. Looking forward to my holiday this year - BACK IN THE UK!!!!! Anyways - all good fun - this is the last year for one bar as its been sold so next year i have less to worry about . (unless i get another ) Over the last few weeks trade has dropped by over 30 % and the credit crunch in the uk is being felt here.
djgb 0
Did the gig last nite a bit of a slow starter but ended up good in the end. Not many there which made a difference. Played a good mix of tunes because the birthday girl - 18th, had'nt really asked for anything in particular, some worked some did'nt. Slipped Reef in and tbh it had a mixed reaction - was'nt like that in my day SON lol :toot: . I think most of them were too young to remember it. :fear: Got the usual 'can you play something good' when I asked like what - 'dunno really something good tho.' :wall: - RnB - no , Dance -no , Pop - no , Cheesy - no, Rock - ummm no , 80s - no, 70s - no. Well what would u like then dear? SOMETHING GOOD MATE!!!! This one makes me laugh aswell- ' Can I have a look at wot you've got?' - I beg your pardon luv LOL. Then if I do let them they may find CD which is a compilation an say 'this one' - wot do you mean the whole cd? Heres a question for you all, Could somebody tell me what genre of music 'GOOD' is? :mikee: Nothing tonite - Saturday so dont know wot to do to - opps sorry, with me-self tongue out icon :dan: Cheers all :djuhi:

davemoody 0
Had a weird wedding last night. Ended up playing to 2 bride and grooms. One of the parties had hired a DJ in who was not insured and the hotel refused him to play. Plus the fact his equipment looked dangerous and had never seen a PAT sticker for at least 20 years!! So from going from a smaller function for 150 turned in to catering for 700!! Luckily I always carry spares of everything. Have to say that everyone saw the funny side and it was a fantastic night. Especially playing 2 first dances was novel for a change.
Big B 0
Friday went great never been to Hull before wasn't sure if i had to take passport with me to enter lol. The people loved it, the manager also asked for the dates we were free in December as he wants to book us  Saturday, well what can i say i suppose it went as well as a 16th birthday party could go did some party tunes then started on her list, then during the night she came over to me and said did i ask for these songs so i showed her the list i printed off and she looked at me and said will you choose the songs from now on, so i did and not an empty floor all night. davemoody 0
Was a bit worried on the fee point but the other couple had booked through the hotel and they charge £500 for a DJ (I charge about £350) So ended up with £850 for just one nights work. Dream Catchers 0
Did a wedding on Friday. Early setup at 1pm then back to start the gig at 5pm through to 12:30. They just wanted classical from 5 until the end of the carvery, which ended up finishing at around 8. Then the speeches which took it to 9pm :o I was expecting it to tail off early because everybody had been to the wedding all day since 3pm (no guests only invited to the evening). I was wrong, the dance floor was packed to the end  What was a first for me was the dance floor moving! It was one of them sectional ones made up of panels each about 2'x2' and was about 4m x 4m in total. The floor was about 8' from the wall when I set up, the front of my booth just in front of the floor and me having about 5 1/2' behind me, by the end of the night the floor had moved pushing me and the booth right back only leaving me with about 2', quite scary really. dh140770 0
Did a monday night wedding at our local social club. Had called the couple for music tastes etc (and first dance). Just got 'oh the usual'... 'whaever' ... so nothing to go on really. About 60 guests of which 25 left after the first dance. Got a few dancers up about 945 after the first dance then nothing at all. I resolved myself to playing good lower tempo music with a few up tempo thrown in. At 1125 'Dirty Dancing' was requested which they danced to, then sat down again. Finished 1145. I was just doing my job really, nothing really enjoyable I have to say, but you have to have the dull nights to show how good the good ones are ! ---------------------------- Thanks ... Dream Catchers 0
Well a couple of very rare pictures of me at work from Friday. http://www.weddingdjbolton.co.uk/images/3-10-09-1.jpg On the lighting rig you can see an InFocus 4805 projector on the t-bar also top right is a red flood. Hanging from the truss are from left to right, a RG laser, ImpossibLed, Datamoon, Full colour laser, datamoon and MarveLed(both obscured by speaker) and finally another RG laser. The booth was custom built with a modified starcloth made to fit. The fat guy is me LOL http://www.weddingdjbolton.co.uk/images/3-10-09-2.jpg Heres one from behind the decks. http://www.weddingdjbolton.co.uk/images/rear%20booth2.jpg I had a problem on my CD decks so had to revert to MP3s for the night. The PC on the left was running FreeStyler for the lights, Pangolin LivePro for the lasers, and PCDJ FX. The Laptop was running PCDJ VJ for videos and a slideshow. The chairs were because we were playing classical music for 3 hours, the bottle of bud was the roadies and also there because we were playing classical music for 3 hours LOL. Liscio 0
Nice Set Up there, I always use 2 Datamoons and have been waiting for my local store to get me in a 5 pin DMX cable for a while now. But running a lighting program on a PC is something I would be very interested in, I have a spare one - could you PM/Link me to further Information? I DJ'd for a mates GFs 21st on Sat night and it went pretty well, real mix of ages but when her college mates (essex girls) turned up I went into the mix and they were really bouncing, loving it and were really P****d off when the venue turned the lights on come closing!!
