Dream Catchers 0
It certainly was a tight squeeze. The buffet table stayed there all night too, the fairy cakes with butter cream on top and the small cake on top was the wedding cake. I had a pre wedding meeting at the venue (a wine bar in Liverpool Hope street) about a month ago,we agreed that as there was a band playing too that we would put the lighting rig on the back of the stage and we would set the booth and speakers up to the side. We got there at 2pm to do an early setup and the band had just arrived too, we noticed the tables for the buffet had been put where we were meant to set up, but thought nothing of it, expecting them to move them to the other side of the room. So we set the lighting rig up behind the band, we then asked the manager if we could move the (empty) buffet tables to the side and she said that we had to set our gear up on stage with the band, we thought she was having a laugh, but she was deadly serious, she then said if we had a problem we should have checked the venue out before the gig, I explained that we had and the person from the bar that was present at the meeting said we could set up where the buffet tables now were, anyhow after a long discussion she agreed to move the table forward by 3 1/2 foot, hence me feeling like a sardine all night LOL. She wouldn't let the group do a sound check because they were "too loud" and people were watching tv in the public bar The group were fantastic, not only with their attitude but also their ability. In the end it was a great night, background music from 6 until 8, first dance at 8 followed by the group until 9. We were on for an hour, buffet until about 10:20 then the group did until 11. Karaoke from 11 until 12 and then dancing until it finished at 1. All in all a great night apart from the sardines LOL. Jim
TonyB 0
Last night was a surprise 30th. Nice easy set up. Reversed up to the fire doors at the side of the stage and unloaded straight on to the stage. All done in 35 mins which was a record time for us. Starting time was 7pm but the majority didn't arrive until 8pm. Glowsticks were a big hit. Gave some out to the children that were running about setting off the party poppers before the birthday girl arrived and the adults wanted some too. Up until 9.30pm the guests were mainly chatting, drinking and eating. Wasn't until after the cake was cut that the party erupted with Summer of '69 and Livin' on a Prayer then degenerated into a cheese fest with requests for the likes of Agadoo and the Can Can. Got three cheers for the DJ at the end which was nice.
