RobbieD 0
I've been playing with a pair of Denon DN-HS5500's since February, and finally felt confident to start taking them out on the road. They replace my previous DN-S1000's so a new case was in order: http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/842/consoleru6.jpg http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/9137/console0dp3.jpg http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/2465/console1zj1.jpg Wheels on one end to make it easier to transport: (It weighs 35Kg!) http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/9880/console1endwheelsxn0.jpg The foam below the keyboard will sit flush once I get a smaller mains block and complete the cut outs for all the mixer connections. Or I may replace that block of foam with a hinged lid. Each DN-HS has it's own duplicate 1TB Western Digital My Book drive redundancy. (If either player or hard drive fails, the dual output feature would allow the other to get me through the night with no issues.) The case lid has matching foam cut outs for the hard drives so that when you put the lid on each is totally surrounded by foam on all six sides. The flying mini jack is for connection of an MP3 player (normally left on looped playback of a mix for an instant third back up). The one keyboard controls both players via the D-Sync cable, but I'm now thinking of individual keyboards for ease of use. It can be hard to see the keys on the keyboard in low light (I do carry a small touch) so I'm also thinking of adding lighting (a couple of flexi stalk lights). Other than that, I've only used this set up for a few gigs so far but it has performed very well. It is amazing being able to access tracks in seconds, rather than having to wade through CD boxes. And it is great effectively having 4 decks for live layering of accapellas (takes me back to my 3 deck mixing days!) or last moment cueing up of an alternative track whilst still having the original choice cued, tempo matched and ready to go. (Fader start also allows instant access to any cued track across the 4 outputs without having to switch layers.)
