Dukesy 0
If the client knows their guests musical tastes as well as their families, and specifically wants these tracks - ...but in the likelyhood that you are given more scope, best take along your popular party music - just in case! I would find the selection a little hard myself. Are you taking a camera? smile icon
4zzz 0
Will try to take some pics. Had a pre meeting with them both and agreed requests on the night ok but changed there mind a week before and said strictly no requests!!!!!!! Got the whole playlist loaded on Laptop and have hd2500 as well so if they change there mind about the music. So a bit of a musical juke box gig. Just leaving now. A bit more nervous than usual over this one.
Kingy 0
So they don't think you are capable of choosing the music to do your job with?? This happens too often nowadays... bet they didn't tell the photographer how to set his camera up for the shots, the chauffer how to drive the car, the bar man how to serve a beer etc etc. A few guide lines is fine by me, requests are welcomed, but hefty lists like this are an insult. I would rather they just hired the gear than make me endure being a bloody juke box. I would have declined this gig.
eazy 0
if they are willing to pay you to be a duke box then why decline the wage ??? i used to worry about making sure everyone enjoyed themselves until i had a revelation !!! something like this --- not everyone likes to party some people aren't dancers and no matter how good you are or what you do sometimes it just wont work you just have to not take it personally and weather they are a mad party animal crowd having a great night or a sit and listen ( probably should have booked a singer ) crowd their money is all the same Edited October 27, 2008 by eazy Eazy Entertainment

Slimboy Fat 0
not everyone likes to party some people aren't dancers and no matter how good you are or what you do sometimes it just wont work you just have to not take it personally and weather they are a mad party animal crowd having a great night or a sit and listen ( probably should have booked a singer ) crowd their money is all the same I used to feel deflated if I'd had a night when nobody danced. I am a self-analytical person at the best of times and I automatically took it as a sign that I was crap! It dawned on me sometime later that occasionally you WILL get a party where you just have to face the fact that the people there just aren't dancers. I still find it strange when hardly anybody has danced all night but you are applauded at the end. Dave80s 0
The playlist looks okay, some good tunes in there. I would be more concerned about the times, things never go to plan. I'm sure we have all had the problem of when the 1st dance is lined up in the CD player, the bride nowhere to be seen, so you eject it, stick something else on to fill the gap then they show up 10 seconds after.... If you look at it another way, who is gonna be checking? I would drop in a few party favourites, if in the remote chance the groom noticed and complained, I would say the CD skipped so I just put another on quickly to keep the party going, or something like that. Also once they leave at the end you could do what you like!
deejaymitch 0
I still take it personally when I haven't got a packed dancefloor all night. I have had nights where there have been very few dancers and hardly any reaction, then been shocked at the end when everyone tells me how much they enjoyed the night, and asked for business cards, and even given me a tip, This seems to be happening more and more and I'm a bot of a hypocrite as I don't dance either. But it still gets to me. I'm a DJ based in Northern Ireland with nearly 10 years' experience offering a range of services. 4zzz 0
Just an update on gig. Turned out an ok night. Despite the groom saying everything would run exactly on time they were an hour and twenty mins late arriving so a lot of the playlist was trimmed. The dancing part of evening kicked off a bit of a dud played there dance tracks as specified in order. First three tracks no one dancing. Had a word with bride and groom and were happy they heard all there tracks through dinner. Asked them about the playlist as time was running short and told me to play off of playlist or whatever you think will work. So kicked into party mode still mixing some of there good tracks in and turned out to be not a bad evening with a good few dancers who still wanted to go on for longer at finish time but had to wrap it up on time for the venue. Got to leave some cards with venue manager who liked my set up so a good positive there. Glad I took the gig on was not a bad paying one. Just took a bit more effort. And a very nice couple and a nice bunch of people Will try and upload some pics just need to read and find out how to.
