I think its a scam, mainly because it is way to cheap and also the web addy is www.webwindows.co.uk and nothing to do with the times.... Could ba an ad agency I guess...

 

My email client also advised me it might be a phishing message and is potentially unsafe...

sounds very suss to me too! I have been getting similar emails and telephone calls from allsorts of papers and directorys lately, and none that i have heard of. Thing is they dont take no for an anwser. I have spent my budget this year for advertising and cannot afford anymore but they try their hardest to sell it.

I used to get this type of thing pretty often. Never been tempted to look into it further...

I'm pretty sure it's not a scam, I had a series of 3 ads in one of the Sunday supplements (not DJ related) a few years ago, it may have been with this company, the name sounds familiar. Having said that, it was a waste of money and I would not recommend them to anyone. Over my business lifetime I've spent many hundreds of thousands of pounds on advertising in various media, and from experience the only press ads that worked, were the one that were placed in specialist publications, and targeting my customer group directly. My advice is keep your cash in your wallet it sounds good, but that's because you want it to work for you, the concept of these ads is to solicit the readers to visit the advertisers web site, the fatal flaw is printed ads aren't clickable and people are too lazy to get up and go to their computer to have a look. You would probably do better spending your ad budget on very specific phrases with Google Ad Words.

I've had them and if i remember right they had a pro looking website but the general tone of the mails really didn't ring with confidence so left well alone.

It means the company has had a pretty coulourful history what with switching between public/private, UK/international and having been liquidated (more than once?)...not the most impressive looking filing.

It means that Id never invest in them put it that way!!!!!

 

But they are a company, whether they are respectable and trustworthy is to be debated elsewhere I believe.

That would have been a genuine approach although whether or not The Times would reach your target market is debatable.

 

The Web Windows idea is not new and has worked previously in both business to business media as well as consumer press such as national dailies, Sundays etc.

 

Companies like Web Windows will buy pages from the publishers, usually at special series rates.

They then sell spots within those pages to individual advertisers.

 

Say, for argument's sake they buy a page for £1,000 split it into eighths and sell each of those for £250, they've made £1,000 on the deal.

 

Usually the rates would be structured so that the required profit would be made by selling, say, 6 out of 8 so that if press deadline is looming it's OK to sell at a knockdown price just to fill the space and get some money in.
