Lag1Rich 0
TOPIC MOVED Hi all, Ive just baught the following gadjet:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VGA-to-TV-Converter-...1713.m153.l1262 I pluged it in to my 15 pin socket on my laptop then got a phono to phono cable and pluged one yellow end to the yellow soket and the new 15pin thing and the other end into my old trusty old TV yellow input on the back but getting nothing on the TV Screen!! I know the socket on my pc workd because i got a 15pin to 15pin cable and tried it in my flat screen and it works fine on PC mode, my computer even picks up the flat screen but not my karaoke TV. I know the TV works because ive used it manytimes before with my Karaoke Decoder. Any ideas on what I need?? Thanks Richard. FrankieJ 0
To be honest I too purchased on of these from ebay to go from my laptop to tv for karaoke and was a complete waist of time. In the end I purchased one of these HERE and these worked a treat. DJ Frankie Knuckles.

deejaymitch 0
I bought a "ClimaxDigital VGA TO AV / VGA TO Video/SVIDEO (PC/Notebook To TV) Converter" off Amazon last week. It's brilliant. Easy to use, even for a technophobe like me, comes with all necessary leads/cables, and has worked perfectly when connected to 6 different TVs and my laptop. Including club residencies, karaoke, pub quizzes, specialised wedding service, Master of Ceremonies, Compere, Night at the Races and much more.

Hi Richard, if you look near the bottom of the advert it says only certain video cards support the adaptor, very few do. Jim
DiscoandKaraoke 0
Sorry this won't be any help, but I bought a laptop specifically because it had a dedicated S-Video TV output, because I'd heard about these VGA conversion problems. You don't say how old your laptop is; if it's brand new maybe you could swap it for one with a TV out port? If not, then sorry to have been no help whatsoever, and I hope you get the problem sorted.
gadget 0
From a tech point of view, some of the cheaper convertors will only just 'copy' whats on on the signal pins and dump them in TV format. The slightly more expensive ones will actually communicate back to the laptop (in the same way all modern monitors/lcds/etc work), what the max resolution/refresh is. A lot of laptops won't enable the rear VGA output unless it detects a proper screen attached. Some LCD projectors also don't work quite this way (I have issues with one at a local school), that the laptop won't detect as a second screen and the only option is to have it mirrored whats on the screen - slightly annoying..
