tonyj 0
ah memories vinyl records and sprung dances floors.....how to play a 3 minute record in under 30 seconds lol http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/tongue.gif in the early days of djing with cds i used 2 goodmans players from comet, i put then in an adda case. they lasted 6 years before i bought the twin cd player....in fact my daughter and also my mum are still using those goodman players. not bad for £69 each.... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif Member of The Musicians Union "Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like hard work." The Spindoctor 0
QUOTE those goodman players. not bad for £69 each.... Nothing wrong with those Tony! I also used 2 x Goodmans and built an extended height lid with front missing and they were suspended from the top of this lid over my NJD Vulcan deck, Iused that system for about 2-3 yrs five nights a week with never a problem! kazzachi 0
..and guess who still uses two technics cd players for her little rig! Housed in a flight case - now doing fourth year...... in fact, I can honestly say, that I have had more trouble with my pioneer cdj500s than I have ever had with these players! ChrisPointon 0
QUOTE I can honestly say, that I have had more trouble with my pioneer cdj500s than I have ever had with these players! Hmmm, I refuse to trigger the Good vs Evil debate again regarding the differences between Cheap & "branded" Products and how a £199 CD Player can be more reliable than a £999 one http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif ....................... Oh Okay then http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/221.gif I daren't mention the problems I had with a certain Denon product for fear of Gary http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/fear.gif but needless to say that my original two R:cense:er Sounds £39 Hi-Fi CD Players outlasted a £1000 Denon by around two years. Speaking as a D.J (and not a distributor) who has owned several top of the range CD players as well as many mid range and £39 ones http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif , I can honestly say that Top end products do often mean more features, lots of flashing Lights and a "household" name - but not a gurantee of rock solid reliability http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wacko.gif , and from my own experience of Cheaper CD Player / Mixers can sometimes far outlast the £1000 ones!. I do own a Denon, and I use a Pioneer at Winkers Club, but my own Dual CD Player is a Stageline, and after 4 years it has never let me down. This isn't a sales excercise (I no longer distribute Stageline!) but based on my own product experience. However, after owning their products, I still would never personally allow a KAM product to darken my doorway!

DJGAVT 0
I have owned 2 Denons and would never go back they have never gone wrong on me and I love my current denon had it 2 years and not 1 fault. I used to have a Kam which was good but they changed the style of them and i hate the way they look now. In my personal opion I would not use Pioneer as I find they break to easy. But I think it depends on how lucky you are with equipement.
Titan 0
hi there ... with the reference to homemix. my system is a profesional DJ rig, with the exception that we use a homemix unit run through to the main mixer, as the cd unit (we also own 2 turntables) the only reason this is, is so that we can save up to afford a profesional dual cd unit at a later date. take care for now http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif

Gary 0
Incidently, whilst browsing through the latest issues of catalogues from two well known high street catalogue shops, I noticed that one of them has now added a "warranty only valid for non~commercial home use" (or words to that effect) The question is...."but how would they know?"...except for the 5 different brands of confetti stuck in the airvents, the beer stains, the 3 different hotel/bar matchbooks, and a "music for all occassions" clichè business card jammed in one of the cd drawers, with a contact number matching the number given for the repair centre to call back on...

Gary 0
O.hhhh Andy...flybynight is a bit harsh...if my other music sources went wrong at a gig (what! all 8 of them) id rather whip out a homemix, than not being able to finish the gig.
dfinn 0
I know someone Who had a home mix and it blew up on them and also when I first started djing i was lookign at a homemix system and every dj shop i went to the owner said they hated the things and wouldnt sell them because they were that bad, I have used on before in a small installation and the faders are flimsy and the buttons r the plasticy ones you get on midi cd players.
