otronics 0
Music spec. for an upcoming gig of mine is "Swing, Soul & Rock 'N' Roll". Generally, I'm OK but could do with some lists of acts/tracks to help me out a but. Thanks all. Oliver Head, OTronics Media Services Ltd, Covering Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset and surrounding areas. Norfolk DJ 0
The easiest advice is to browse through the mastermix collection on their website, and look at the track listing on their Soul, Swing and Rock'n Roll Albums. it's usually the obvious stuff which you have but forgotten about. I have bought a few Cd's from mastermix to bolster my collection.
spinner 0
There are countless Soul albums available depending on the style/era wanted. Goldmine is good for Northern, Dome and Expansion good for Modern. Various compilations are available for 80's (Soul Weekender type) plus there are loads of reissues available of Stax, Atlantic, Philly, Motown etc. etc. Have a look on Amazon for any of those and you will see absolutely loads. Same goes for Rock 'n' Roll and Swing. Edited December 10, 2008 by spinner
ryandio 0
There are plenty of swing compilations available, but if you are looking for modern swing, I would look for anything by these groups. Brian Setzer Orchestra (used to be in the Stray Cats) Cherry Poppin' Daddys Royal Crown Revue Big Voodoo Daddy Flying Neutrinos Indigo Swing If its the orginal fifties swing you are after look no further than Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Glen Miller. There is a forum member, local to you, called "Swingcats" who specialises in this type of music. If he's around he may able to help you further
