What Would You Do ?

Recommended Posts

OK so the party's in full swing, everyone's well oiled and Dirty Dancing has been requested. You play it and everyone gets on the floor. Then, Dodgy Dave thinks "That move at the end of the film where Johnny lifts Baby above his head, I reckon I could do that with Mad Mick out the office". With the whole of the room to choose from, Dodgy Dave decides to stand right in front of your setup as Mad Mick lines himself up to run at him. He's gonna run at him any second.

What do you do next ?

I would say that for health & safety reasons you would need to stop them - landing on a rig would be more harmful than the 2 of them falling on the floor. Then you need to take into account that if they did fall into your rig then it might be the end of the party for all the others too!!

Get between Mick and Dave to stop the run-up, and then move them.

My mate was playing at the time so I was on hand to do whatever I wanted so I stood in between them and my rig ready to catch the idiots if they fell. Which they didn't the first time. Once wasn't enough for these brave drunks though so they had another go. This time they started to fall but I managed to move them away from my rig. I told them to move away from my equipment which they did. They did it again but this time facing away from my rig which wouldn't have been a problem if they'd done it in the first place.

Was a bit of a nightmare really. Had several drinks put on my speakers which were promptly removed. Some idiot leant on my rig and the bar and curtain that covers the front fell off. Then when I laid it out on the floor 2 morons started rolling on it. He apologised after though when I snatched it out his hand. Could've turned nasty though. One bloke was escorted out before they'd even finished the food as he was falling about the place, nearly into my rig a few times. Generally rude people not happy with what I was playing. Same rude people demanding I play a request that I'd already played for them earlier. Just smiled at them to get rid of them and didn't bother playing it.

A rather fit blonde girl said I did a great job though so it was all worth it :D

Christmas parties eh. I blame the free booze. The manager was sound though. Gave us 10 free drinks tokens, offered us as much champagne as we wanted and offered extra cash to play over at the end but the venue staff and driving home meant it was all worthless.

Went to a party Friday night at a local hotel. The DJ played this and lo and behold, up lines the idiots right in front of her (yes her) rig. She got straight on the mic and asked them to swap ends. Did they ?. Course not, why would they. They were drunk and thus invincible.

This track sends people loopy :(

Can't praise my roadie enough, first signs of any issues he's out in front of the rig ready to take on all comers!

I don't have a roadie - any such issues and I'm out there in front ready to repel allcomers Drunken Idiots.

For this scenario I'd have been out there and gently moved encouraged Dave off to one side slightly. I get this regularly from the same group at one of my regular pubs, they do line up on me, but in the middle of the floor miles away from falling on my rig.

I forgot I had these. I think this was last summer at one of my residencies.
