Dukesy 0
Acatia Halls, Darent Suite, Dartford, Kent. DA1 1DJ Contact: 01322 392055 This former 'Welcome' Foundation function room has capacity for around 200 guests. The bar is in a room next door to a nice sized stage for entertainers, however this can prove to be a slight 'pain' when doing a large Wedding or Corporate gig - you lose 'guests' from the hall! The stage has power-points on the left of the stage (facing the 'audience') and a stage light (overhead tubes) switch on the right hand side. Access to the stage is via a rickity old set of steps - be careful on these and don't take anything for granted!!! I would suggest a minimum of 300W - 500w speakers for Hall (200 guests). You could set up a 15' rig or smaller rig and close off the stage curtains. The Hall access is thru a standard fire-door at the front of the Hall, you may even want to bring a loading trolly for the entrance/exit. The 'car-park' is set away from the Hall. After you unload the gear, you will be directed to the carpark as you will not be able to leave vehicles outside. (Carpark about 1-2 mins walk, Security Guard in attendance). The Acatia Halls also has other function rooms - a downstairs 'social club' and an upstairs function Hall (for Balls, Weddings, Tribute Bands, etc). If you're upstairs - there is a fire-access door and stairs at the end of the building, a mobile stage area for a 250-300 capacity function. More often than not, the other rooms will be in operation at the same time yours is - and generally, EVERYONE from all 'events' leave at the same time! It can be very busy with Taxi's and cabs / vehicles pulling up - especially as the Darent Suite lies immediately on the right hand side of the gate entrance. A sort of Picadilly Circus! Overall, the staff are friendly enough and have a very big turnover of functions per week. You may even get a visit from the resident 'entertainment manager' having a 'nose'!!!! The venue 'Security', however, can be abrupt 'at times' on encouraging guests to leave - so time is time. If you are booked until 1am, finish on the dot! The Halls lie off of the one-way system in Dartford, surrounded with Youngster Pubs and a Major Nite-Club, hence the 'big guy' security stopping 'gate-crashers' and pub turn-outs. All in all, a typical venue. My Venue Rating: 8/10 Map Link: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=55...p=newsearch.srf
