Manchester Town Hall

Recommended Posts

If you listen to the main reception upon arrival, or receive a phone call from the feisty receptionist before the gig then you will be clearly informed that the venue has no parking of its own, and you will be expected to park on the main NCP car park opposite and lug your gear across the busy A34 into the venue.

Ignore them!, instead follow the one way system off the A34, to the left of the Town Hall bulding and around the back. On the left there is a small road with a barrier and no entry sign. At the yellow security lodge ask Security if you can use the staff car park, they will raise the barrier and allow you to unload and park there for the duration your gig. It's on road parking, but a private road so no traffic, or drunks and quite safe.

However, you still have a long haul from there!, so charge your client accordingly. The main function rooms are on the first floor, which means carrying your stuff up the steps into the front entrance. Just to the left is a security / reception desk, and just behind them is a room with a service lift. Ask to use it (They don't automatically offer! and are more than happy for you to use the stairs!). On the first floor come out of the lift, and follow the long corridor (and it is LONG!) which will take you past a row of function rooms.

Take somebody with you to help, and allow around an hour extra to set up, for distance it is one of the worst function rooms I have done.
