Av you got ? LOOK IN THE BOOOOOK!with a smile of course. :wall: I am curently doing a karaoke competition in my local and i have had the same problem people saying have you got, and 1 week ago i had a guy come up to me saying he was a DJ and he said he liked my setup, during the night he then came over and said have you got any karaoke by elton john, so of course i said if we have any it will be in the book under elton john, he then said sorry mate i have got dyslexia, which begs the question if you have that how do you look for tracks that people ask you for when you are out working yourself, for which he said i no longer do it any more. deejaymitch 0
As bad as not looking the song up, are the ones who just come up and tell you what they want to sing. Cos I have nothing better to do than look up everyone's request and memorise them all night. Look it up and write it out or eff off. Robster 0
i had one guy tell me he couldnt read (i knew he could he was just being arkward) so he couldnt look in the book so i filled in a slip for him and when i called him up i turned off the tv monitor his face was full of shock and horror he got all flustered as the music started . i said "i thought you couldnt read so you dont need to see the words do you?" after that he filled in slips every time!! now i would not treat normal customers like this but i know this guy and what a pain he is and i am not usually mean but on this occasion it worked a treat! " Grrrrrrr :damn: I know cause its being played off a cd!!!!! "So wheres the words then????" I must be missing something then cause I didnt reliase that cds in a cd player would display words on a screen aswell.. :scared: must be my mistake.. deejaymitch 0
I've had that a lot lately. As if I can magically strip the lead vocal off any track in my collection and make words miraculously appear on the screen. No matter how many times you explain it, they never get it, cos they come back and say the same thing every week. exbutlinred82 0
Tho it took me forever I loaded all my Karaoke on to a hard drive. So i've dropped the books and ask them what they want to sing....use the search button on my computer.... and Robert is your Sisters Brother. Lot easier. Understand what Mitch means tho. They really can be that stupid!! Sorry .....Robert is your Mothers Brother......(Bobs Your Uncle!!).
Robster 0
I find that books even with pc dj's still help to inspire people to sing new songs rather than them just asking for the same old song. From my experience before i was a kj and when i used to travel about singing on karaoke I think many KJ's do not print enough books and do not make the book look good, they also tend to use small basic type (to save printing lots of pages) and they tend to only have books in one order ie artist rather than song of visa versa. also they don't update them as often as they should they often used to have the tracks but not put it in the book (what a waste of the cdg disc investment!) many KJ's feel the cost of printing "fancy"books when they only get beer poured over them is not worth it ..i treat the appearance of the books and the quality of them as important as the quality of the sound equipment. Customers get an impression of what quality of KJ you are from everything they see and hear... a book is a very tangible thing that can make an important impression on them. I have 8 books 6 in artist order two in song order this really does help stop the where is the book etc having said all that it still will never stop some customers acting like buffoons lol Edited January 31, 2009 by Robster Rob Star EntertainmentsFacebook pagelandline 0161 265 3421Mobile: 0777 99 777
