Bozak Ar-6, Eq-6 And Iso-x

Recommended Posts

The Bozak AR-6 is a classic rotary mixer with its heritage taken from the pioneering mixers of the 70’s. Updated to give the flexibility to today’s DJ requirements, the AR-6 has been designed first and foremost for unsurpassed sound and build quality.

The AR-6 feature set, has been designed in conjunction with some of the true legendary DJ’s who have served their apprenticeship on the original rotary mixers and who are now regarded as the true masters of their craft. The mixer offers the most flexible routing, six direct phono, line or mic inputs and five auxiliary line inputs on a user selectable matrix with a balance control for each input, the AR-6 has more than enough input options.

The flexible headphone section gives the DJ flexible control over the cue and mix. The clear warm and loud headphone output with a mix control that allows the DJ to pan between the Cue or Program output or a mix anywhere between. The Headphone jack is backlit to allow you to find the socket in the dark DJ booth.

Dedicated Master and Booth gain controls gives you total control over the mix with flexible stereo balanced or unbalanced options as well as post fade tape output and dedicated mono master output.

The Loop control allows the DJ to add their choice of effects or processing to the master output and the Loop/Direct switch allows the connected processor to be switched in or out at the DJ’s discretion. Used in conjunction with the EQ-6 the loop feature will take your effect control to another level.

3-band stereo EQ gives perfect overall tonal control of the mix. With its cross-over points having been carefully selected to yield a most natural sound and to emphasise the artistry in the musical production, the Bozak’s frequency dividing technology provides superior dynamic response making the control smooth and the individual tone control allows the user to EQ beats, vocals and the high hats.

The EQ-6 with its individual Isolator EQ control over the six inputs and coupled with this the routing of the loop and effects across all inputs perfectly complements the Bozak AR-6 mixer. The flexibility of the EQ-6 allows it to be used as a standalone EQ section should you require it.

Channels 1~4 are selectable between Phono or Line input while channels 5~6 are selectable between Line or Microphone input. Both the Inputs and the outputs of each channel are on RCA connectors and the output is at line level.

The Loop control allows the DJ to add their choice of effects to any of the six input channels or add effects to the master loop of the mixer, a mix control is included to allow the DJ to adjust the mix between the Dry (without effect) signal and the Wet (with effect) signal.

When connected to the master output of the mixer, the stereo analogue VU meters will display the main output of the mixer and feature LED peak indicators.

The Bozak ISO-X uses high performance analogue tone control circuits using individually selected discrete components that isolate the signal into three or four bands, selectable by the user.

The level of each band is controlled independently and Bozak’s frequency dividing technology provides superior dynamic response making the control smooth, predictable and ultra controllable.

The individual tone control allows the user to isolate beats, vocals and high hats as well as adjusting the overall tonal quality.

The cross-over points have been carefully selected to yield a very natural sound and to emphasise the artistry in the musical production.

Where can I buy it from?

The Bozak website and orders are then shipped either from our European office in the UK or our USA office in NYC.

How do you change the ISO-X between 3 and 4 way mode?

You switch between 3 and 4 way via the switch on the front panel even on the fly.

What is the boost?

6dB.

What is the cut?

Full cut.

Where is zero?

At 12 o’clock.

What is the cross-over slope?

18dB per octave.

What is the frequency response?

We believe the Bozak ISO-X has the widest frequency responce of any Isolator on the market from 10Hz to over 35KHz.

What are the cross-over points?

Middle/treble 4Khz , Bass/Middle 400Hz and the Sub bass at either 80 or 100Hz

What are the inputs and outputs?

Stereo line in and out on RCA connectors.

Stereo balanced line in and out on Neutrix XLR connectors.

What is the 80 and 100 switch for?

So you can select the cross-over point of the SUB control. It is customary for dance music producers to use either 100 or 80 Hz as the sub cross over point but no two use the same. The Bozak ISO-X lets you chose what suits the tracks your playing the best.

Will the ISO-X warm up my sound system?

Every engineer and DJ that has tried the ISO-X says not only does it warm up their system but it enhances the stereo image.

If I want to travel with the ISO-X can the input voltage be changed?

Yes, either 90-125v or 200-250v AC can be selected on the rear panel.

What the mains connector?

The ISO-X is supplied with a IEC lead (kettle lead) for your territory.

What components are used in the ISO-X?

Only the best selected components have been used to enhance the tonal quality of the ISO-X. The Bozak circuits are true the designs of the early seventies original Bozak mixers. All the audio circuits are analogue in design, that means we only use transistor, capacitors and carbon resistors for give the ISO-X warm and punch, we do not use op amps or metal resistors. The only op-amps we use are old school TL072’s as line drivers for the balanced outputs but these cannot and don’t affect the audio circuits.

What are the Pro’s saying about the ISO-X?

Louie Vega:

“The new Bozak ISO-X can warm up any sound system. Is my preferred isolator and the best sounding to date. Having a choice of 3 or 4 way separation is something now other isolator as. Come check it out any of my gigs and hear it work”.

Bobby & Steve:

“The Bozak ISO-X sounds hot! The sound is amazing, it’s so punchy and warm. We won’t leave home without it now, cant wait for the mixer”.

Kevin Hedge:

“I’ve had a prototype since March, the frequency separation and warmth is second to none. The Bozak ISO-X adds a new dynamic to any system, check it out every week at Roots Cielo NYC”.

Fabric sound engineer Sanjay B:

“The Isolator sounds PHAT, cant wait to put them in the club”.

Herbal sound engineer Robbie:

“The Bozak is fat, it rocks our Watt Co sound system”.

IDJ Magazine:

“The Bozak ISO-X has been designed to give excellent sound quality and smooth control over the eq. It’s not cheap but this isolator will add improved dynamics into your system and add a new dynamic into the way you use eq”.

The original Bozak CMA-10-2DL mixer was the first commercially produced DJ mixer. DJs and engineers alike fell in love with the mixers functionality and the unique smoothness and warmth.

Prominent since the '70s in so many DJ booths and especially in Larry Levan's at The Paradise Garage, the original Bozak mixer earned its unique place in DJ history. The legacy of Bozak lives on today. Although the mixer was available in a few different guises, it is commonly felt that the product's life was cut short and never reached its full potential for the DJ. Analog Developments has committed to carry on the pioneering development of those early days and yes, honors its DJ range with the Bozak name.

Bozak's use of discrete components gave the mixer a unique sound that cannot be re-created with today's integrated op-amps. Analog Developments has designed to the same exacting topology that made that early audio sound so warm and made the stereo image so dynamic. All the Analog Developments products use high-performance analog control circuits using individually selected discrete components.

Functionality has been improved where necessary to accommodate today's DJs and sound system engineers, with special attention paid to the connectivity and tactile feel of the product. The dynamic response makes the control smooth and predictable while the Bozak frequency-dividing technology gives individual tone control, allowing the user to isolate beats, vocals and the hi-hat as well as adjust the overall tonal quality.

The Bozak ISO-X is the first product of the new range, which is a user-selectable 3- or 4-band Isolator.
