A 60th B'day party for me on Saturday, pretty local which is nice :joe:

And 'hiring' / lending / borrowing some kit to a small pub to do a presentation night.

Nothing tonight tho. ( FRIDAY )

Nothing for me either. Next gig is the 6th March.

Enquiries are down for me, but I have a few pub bookings and took a booking for Christmas Eve at my local.

I've not done much promotion or work on the website, so this is partly my fault.

Interestingly, I was out on the town last night (in Braintree), and The Chigago Rock Cafe was busy, and so was the town center (Chicagos ran out of beer - only Fosters left :damn: )

It was young thou, so not many older people. I feel old (and hungover!) now...

Nothing this weekend for me, which is good as I have done my back in. Enquiries are going pretty well for a part timer like me. Enough to keep me occupied anyhow!

40th tonight - In Braintree :fear: . Nice easy load in, reverse up to fire doors and set up just inside the room.

It wasn't that bad Tony!

I lived there from aged 4 until 6 years ago when I moved to Booking and then out to Waltham Cross.

Amazing difference compared to going out in my area - lots of little gangsters and open drug dealing..

Braintree is a doddle (although a few fights in Mardies last night, but I think thats normal..)

Good luck with your gig tonight, I can highly recommend the Kebab house opposite Tescos... :joe:

Nothing Friday, just got back from doing a wedding tonight in Essex.

Great conversation with a guest:

Guest: Can you play This Old Heart Of Mine by The Isley Brothers?

Me: Sure, no problem.

Guest: Will you come and tell me when it's on?

Me: Not really mate, I can't be running around looking for you! And anyway, you'll hear it!

Guest: No, I won't know it. I've never heard it before.

Me: So why are you requesting a song you don't know?

Guest: It's for my mate.

Me: Ok, well he'll tell you when it's on.

Guest: He won't know, HE'S DEAF!

I swear this bloke wasn't joking either, I could tell he was being serious throughout. Amazing!!

Had a mammoth 7 hour set tonight, went well, though the hall has massive (could hold 400), but only 50 people there! Always difficult at those types of gigs, as it seems empty still, plus was set on a high stage.

It was a 50th Birthday, and client requested a lot of Tamla Motown, but crowd mostly 20-40s.. plus a lot of kids.. one the best tracks of the night was Robin S - Show Me Love, plus Scissor Sisters etc and of course Love Shack. Can't remember much more it was a long set!!

Can't complain, great to be working, and all that were there had a great time, which is the most important thing!

Plus loads of Chicken Drumsticks left at the end so finally had dinner at 1am..

Just as I put the DMC 80's Mix on to allow for a loo break, client wanted to make a speech and requested a couple of tracks, so spent the next 2 hours wondering when the toilet break was gonna appear! Managed to make a run for it during Chain Reaction (nearly 5 mins long), and made it back before the end of the track.. Played Celebration, maybe sub consciously because I was celebrating making it to the toilet haha.

How was yours?

Mike

I have to hang my head in shame here, I didn't work this weekend due to illness.

I've been bed-ridden since Wednesday with some sort of throat infection/ear infection/flu/bug combo. It's so depressing. I never used to get ill and, on the rare occasions I did, I shook it off in no time. But these days I'm catching everything and it really seems to hit me a lot harder.

So missed my residency last night (got it covered). First Saturday night in for I don't know how many years, but not in the circumstances I would have liked.

I'm a DJ based in Northern Ireland with nearly 10 years' experience offering a range of services. Including club residencies, karaoke, pub quizzes, specialised wedding service, Master of Ceremonies, Compere, Night at the Races and much more.

The 60th party turned out very good , all the guests were up for it and the lady was a 'young' 60 if u know wot I mean and a little too 'freindly' tbh but not to worry. :fear:

I played a good mix of tunes that covered all ages without over-doing it on a certain era or style. The only thing sometimes a wish there was a bit more pre-gig comunication cause due to fact the lady had recently lost her husband, there was a number of songs which may have upset her.

Although I did me best to get hold off the list b4 and during the night it never turned up. I think I played one song - which was a request from another guest that didnt go down to well with the lady but I was quickly and poliety asked to change it. Oh well nobody else noticed and the night was not affected in any way.

Nothing this week but for the first time I was undercut by someone else, My fees are not expensive but the person booking the party was happy to use somebody else £50 less although she knew about his not so good reputation. Their choice I suppose, and I think that a few years ago I might have dropped down to match the price but now I feel that if he's willing to do it for that much - good luck to them both. :moon:

Is this the right decesion in these leaner times only time will tell.?
