exbutlinred82 0
Don't know how to provide a link... However I was surfing Ebay and came across this. There is a guy in Wales who seems to be auctioning new Starcloths 6FT by 4FT for £40/£50.Thought there was a catch until I went on his feedback.I paid £100 for mine secondhand...and it is my pride and joy. At those prices we should all have one.....Have I read it wrong??

Kev G 0
What do these attach to? is there some sort of stands/framework for them?
Robster 0
I had seen this sellers stuff when browsing but thought that these might be x-mas lights sewn onto a cloth , i made this assumption when i saw the controllers patterns..i am most probably wrong looking at the feedback..it would be nice for someone to get one and give us the heads up on one Kev G on one picture they show the ties. McCardle 1
What do these attach to? is there some sort of stands/framework for them? If you have an Ultimax style stand or similar, then I guess you put the cloth across the front of it and use the velcro ties to hold it in place. Personally, I would be tempted to get some single sided adhesive velcro strip and stick one side of it right across the deck / light stand, and the other all the way across the top of the cloth, then stick the two together to hold it securely in place, all of the way. It does seem to be christmas tree lights sewn into the cloth - whether it's the small lamp type ones of LED im not sure but at that price it's not going to be a proper starcloth... Although i suppose the argument is if you can't afford a proper starcloth then this is a good answer and would a standard client know any different?

exbutlinred82 0
6FT BY 4FT is the same size as mine and it's quite large.I have it permanently in place at my regular venue. Its on an old lighting truss I had. Youd pay over £100 for an Impossibled ....but not £58 for a large starcloth.Look at his feedback...not on commission....honest!!

startrax 0
Im looking at buying one of these, and ditching the panels. I would however need some sort of frame work, any ideas anyone. Thing is im 6'8 in height so a standard goalpost stand is wee bit small... I'm a bit confused on what you are asking for! If you are having the cloth as a frontage then your height is irrelevant (unless you are a dwarf LOL). As for standard goal posts being too small, they normally go up to 3 metres high. startrax 0
I thought a stand with goal post is only a 1000mm in height to the equipment, which isnt that high when your my height. I find im always bending over to use the equipment, so I need something my height hence using a frame to tie a 1300 high star cloth, or am I getting my self confused? stu Howay the lads Startrax www.toon-talk.co.uk
McCardle 1
Are you any good at drawing? or do you know anybody who is?. You might be better approaching a metal basher locally, the type of firm which does sheet metal work and similar. They will probably be able to fashion together some lightweight steel tubing into a stand built exactly to your own height and design for the cost of materials and a few hour labour. The cost will probably be roughly the same, and in some cases perhaps cheaper than the mass produced variety. They will probably be able to get it finished in a black powder coat, however you can cut the cost even further and spray it yourself with a couple of cans of Hammerite, which seems to last just as long as the factory finish in my experience. exbutlinred82 0
Get yourself an adjustable (second hand??) lighting truss. Pop the speaker poles to their full extent.Tie the cloth to the upper part of the truss using the ties that should be with the Starcloth. You are probably going to buy a 6ft by 4ft by the sounds of things. The starcloth doesnt reach the floor does it??Strategically place a couple of the tables from the venue inbetween the two poles.Drape some black fabric (ABOUT £10) over the tables and use the tables for discs/reading lights/beer/hard drives etc. This will give the impression the cloth is larger than it truly is. Work in front of the cloth (preferably side saddle....whole topic on this...see presentation). Copied from a drag artist in Ibiza.....but very effective.Enjoy.
