UKHero 0
Hello all I do not want to start a price war debate here but I just came across this on goodparty:. Type of event Other Enquiry Number of guests 400 Event date 20 June 2009 Zipcode DY13 9JU City Stourport-on-Severn Budget £750-£1000 Enquiry price £3.00 Service required by customer Cover Band, DJ, Wedding Band Description I'm looking for a band to play 1 or 2 sets & a DJ for the remainder of the night at hunt ball. There will be around 400 guests. The first set will be about 10pm the second to be decided. Disco for the remainder of the night. The ball will finish at dawn which will be about 4am.. Now for a maximum of £1000 they want a band and a DJ for 400 people and ends at 4am.... I dont think there are many on here who would even want this gig but if you did what would you quote leaving some budget for a band? Nik Niks Roadshow
djgorey 0
I've done a couple of Hunt Balls with the band I used to work with and the budget this enquiry is offering wouldn't even cover a 1/3 of the band, let alone a disco and definitely not until 4am. If it was me and I was booking the band and the disco I would want in the region of £3,000 - £5,000 depending on the quality of the band.

UKHero 0
Just thought I would love to know how much the tickets are going to be for this gig. Probably in excess of £35 I would imagine. So 35 X 400 = a cool £14000 nice.... Nik Niks Roadshow

vokf 0
Lots of questions? 12am - 4am = 4hrs after midnight 1hr set-up, 1hr packup (depending on what is required/offered) Standby time (assuming they don't want you arriving at 11pm and setting up whilst the band is on)) Background music/filler music (between Band sets)? Assume venue is local, so negligible travelling time. You could be asked to arrive at 7pm (or earlier) to set-up as not to disturb diners! I don't think the budget is reasonable for a DJ AND a Band. If they already had gear (as part of the venue), and the DJ could arrive at 11:30pm, and be out the door at 4:10am, then it could be possible They will end up with a band that also provides a Disco, which is probably the cheapest option. But how many decent bands would provide all this for that fee. You would be looking at a 4 piece band minimum. so before Costs thats only £250 each most quality bands have a sound Engineer, and some have a lighing guy also. Then take out expences etc not very good. Most bands I know charge around £2000 for a standard set. Nik Niks Roadshow

Dale King 0
Sorry, must be my age, but I wouldnt quote for the job at all. There are only 2 places I want to be at 4am. One is in bed, the other is in a Departure Lounge. DJ Dale King When you see light at the end of the tunnel, beware. It's probably someone with a torch, bringing you more hassle
TonyB 0
Bit short notice, I've been booked for 20th June for ages and I'm sure most of the quality bands would be seeing as its start of the prime wedding season. If I wasn't wasn't, I'd quote around the 2.5k mark to include band and disco to 4am. Wouldn't pay £3 for the enquiry though as strong possibility it will go to a cheaper band with Ipod :)

McCardle 1
Well they are going to be faced with a stark choice aren't they. Either have no entertainment on the night, or 'up' their fees in line with their expectations and offer something more realistic. i'll wager that they'll find some mug somewhere to fill it at the offered price "The voice of the devil is heard in our land" 'War doesn't determine who is right, war determines who is left, and you wont win this war.'
