YourBigEvent 0 Posted March 25, 2009 Report Share Posted March 25, 2009 (edited) Friday - Meeting with a Danish bride, who lives in Spain, but getting married in the UK, has booked disco, karaoke, bagpiper, casino table, football table, comedians, quartet, MC and uplighting. Still have to quote for the crockery for afternoon tea. Saturday - Small PA, then wedding, working with band using their PA, but supplying uplighting in the bar area. Sunday - Wedding Fair, then a birthday tea with family before a parrty in the evening until 0000hrs. Monday - Conference from 0800hrs until 1800hrs, then disco for the delegates in the evening until 0200hrs Tuesday - Conference, from 0800hrs until 1800hrs, then disco for the delegates in the evening until 0200hrs Wednesday - Conference, from 0800hrs until 2000hrs, then two meetings in the evening. dh140770 0 Posted March 28, 2009 Report Share Posted March 28, 2009 (edited) how was it for me ? .... ruddy freezing ! 30th Birthday in a marquee. I could see my breath all night and had to ring my mate to bring fingerless gloves. That helped a little. It was a bit of washout with everyone giving up at around 11, entitling me to an 1130 finish (1/2 hour early). Back home for 1210, fully packed up. EDIT: and the first gig where i didn't use the mic once. There were so few people in the marquee I just never got the opportunity. I should not use the mic more often! Really nice couple and something else that really pleased me was nothing went wrong! Last couple of weeks has been a nightmare with an amp overheating, lights going bang and the fan failing on the laptop (completed the gig though without overheating even without the fan working but its not my main playing source so no big problem anyway!). Only small problem was we arrived and had to wait for the venue to be opened at 3 0'Clock - well, thought we had to wait, didn't know that the side door was open for us and the caterers were already inside sorting out the food. Sat outside for about 15 minutes until I followed a young blonde waitress to see where she was going. Was just checking on how to get into the venue, honest Opened fire doors at the side and easy load in straight onto the stage. As per normal, ran late and ended up playing background music for longer than planned. Evening has got to be one of the cheesiest discos I've done, probably ever, but everyone loved it and it became a bit of a game to see who could request the cheesiest track - Birdie Song does take a bit of beating though! Was given a meal, free drinks and a nice unexpected tip at the end so all in all a good gig. Link to post Share on other sites
