vokf 0
2 for me; Tonight, "Salsa Spice" tonight in Edgware. Carmen and friend are running a Salsa evening with food (curry mmmmm) and Lessons+Party. If anyone local is interested in popping along, pm/call me (details on my site) I'll post the "Salsa Disco" playlist in the appropriate section tomorrow. It may be of help to anyone who gets Salsa requests. Saturday- 30th birthday party in Panfield (nr Braintree, Essex). Should be a good one. Nice playlist. Villiage hall, but no smoke detectors or any other nasties to worry about. I've also gigged there before. Jason
dj.silver 0
I'll post the "Salsa Disco" playlist in the appropriate section tomorrow. It may be of help to anyone who gets Salsa requests. That would be extremely useful thanks. I do golf clubs, older parties and occasionally I'm asked for a few Salsa/latin tracks. If I could just put 15 to 20 minutes together it would be great. Much appreciated http://planetsmilies.net/character-smiley-17211.gif http://planetsmilies.net/character-smiley-17174.gif http://planetsmilies.net/character-smiley-17203.gif http://planetsmilies.net/character-smiley-17211.gif http://planetsmilies.net/character-smiley-17174.gif I once read about the evils of heavy drinking ................ so I've stopped reading COPYWIGHT: Elmer Fudd 1956, All wights wesewved. Much appreciated Great- I'll ask Carmen to specify the CD each track comes from, and the style of Salsa - I'm sure 2 or so CD's would cover most needs. Jason

4zzz 0
Fri 40th birthday for a friend at mates rates. Sat Wedding on a farm in a marquee haven't requested one song for the night apart from from bridal waltzes etc. Don't think they are really in to music. Have dealt directly with a wedding planner on this one which I have found a little hard going. Rather talk directly to clients but this is the modern world as Weller once said. Will see how we go. BigBen 0
Well I'm sorry guys but I'm off to foreign shores. I have no idea where as this is my 40th birthday present from the wife! All I know is that I have had jabs (hepatitis A, typhoid fever, diptheria, tetanus and polio), it's roughly a six hour flight and I need to pack for a hot climate. Oh, and we're not taking the kids... Someone told me that it won't be Africa or else I would have had a malaria tablet (?) too. Derby are away to Cardiff on the 8th...does it take six hours to fly to Cardiff from Bournemouth? [insert quirky comment]
McCardle 1
hepatitis A, typhoid fever, diptheria, tetanus and polio No real clue there. You could be staying on a narrow boat in Tyne and Wear  Nothing for me this weekend. vokf 0
Last nights gig was good. A 30th. She did the trick of asking for requests on the invite - normally I'd hate this, but at least she screened any really bad tracks out. I ran 2 LCD monitors, running WinAmp visiualisions, and a slideshow over the top of that. Went down very well. Other lighting was 2 LED's and a DynaRoll. I also took the Subs, so had a very full car. Most memorable bit - Birthday girls Dad+Partner dancing to a slowie and I was told to put "Prodigy - Omen" on 3/4 through the slow song. The floor suddenly filled with people jumping around, her Dad included! I've got it on video :-) Surprise song of the night "Ghostbusters"!!! Playing Billie Jean, some one ran up and asked from Thriller - the dancers gave a big thumbs up, and on the request sheet was "Ghostbusters", which went down very well. Possibly got 2 gigs from it, both Weddings next year. I've also got her mum's 60th at the end of May. Jas
biggav 0
I lost out on saturday... We have a large hall in the centre of town which was always packed on a saturday night (when i were'lad) I hired the hall, paid door staff, got a charity on board, (i had 2 other charitys and a school wanted me to do it for them) got out ALL of my stuff, my band, bought new gear (its a big hall)... and only sold enough tickets to pay the bouncers!!!! i have paid out for the hall and bar staff from my own pocket, band did it for free.... Charity sold no tickets at all  I spent £50 on tickets and posters, i used a facebook events page which had 60 deffinates and 150 possible attendees, i used a Blutooth marketing scheme on the laptop for 10 days prior to the event (broadcasting a message to every bluetooth device in a 100m range) which had over 1800 viewings.. (and now has local businesses wanting to use it!!) Unfortunatley the local dive of a nightclub relaunced the same night and had 3 girls in furry boots and devil horns stood outside the hall Poaching all of the passing trade!!! My wife has now banned me from doing such events again which is a real shame as i'm sure that the people at Cancer Research, Air Ambulance and St Mary's School would have sold loads of tickets!!!! No more support for the Firefighters charity from me!!!!!! ;thumbdown:  www.longweekendmusic.co.uk 60s to present day rock and pop live covers band. bluejools 0
I did a civil partnership on Saturday - and i really enjoyed it. Profusion of thanks at the end - and people dancing all night - I really enjoyed it. Used my new "laser". The kam - after the recommendations here - i thought it was great - fully visible in daylight (this was conservatory as well) - my only complaint would be the bracket..... not easy to lock into position And why is it things break early on - not at the end - not during an equipment check......... one data moon dropped its mirror..... oh well
