Interested in those DJ Booth deck stand 'surrounds' to cover / tidy-up your kit, but were afraid to buy?

Too expensive or just not impressed?

I'm referring to the deck stands that surround the main rig / disco kit.

Not an opportunity to single-out a specific product (there are more than one on the market) just generally speaking.

I think for what they do some are very expencive although do look very pro...

And its more kit to be carried into and out of a venue and stored in your van trailer or home....

It also adds to the set up pack up time. All that said if the price was right and the item was well constructed easy to assemble and light I would like one.

Overpriced and subject to failure due to their construction.

Know what I have always used?

4 x 3.5' black board with side panels which are piano hinged on, all pained plain black (currently). Hides a multitude of sins and looks very pro. Needs occasional coat of paint but never breaks down!!

The S&H booth looks good - but is very expensive, and is simply a booth - so I'd still need my stand.

The much touted Deck Stand Pro is currently retailing @ £799, which is still expensive - but at least has a built-in stand.

Found the Ultimax to be the most reliable of the off the shelf brands.

We now have custom made stands made by litestructures.

I think they are over priced for what they are, but do think they are quite elegant.

I ended up getting one custom made.

The box section tubing cost £50, that was enough for the booth and two shelves.

My brother did all the welding.

I have a NDJ starclorh that has been altered to fit snuggly.

So it is both a booth and a stand

A couple of weeks ago, I asked three companies to provide a quote for a deckstand surround / booth.

One replied and said they could produce a demo - it may even be ready by next week - if so, details and pics will be made available.

When I first (re)joined the ranks, I made one: 7 foot wide, 4 foot high and with hinged panels at about 2 foot 6.

Made it from heavy ply, put hinges and locking pins on, painted it black...got the daughters boyfriend to paint my logo in fluorescent paint on it...looked the biz!

And......

Never used it (live)...bought a starcloth instead and left the tripods etc in view!!!!

Cheers!

Ultimax or tripods for me depending on the venue size.

At what point do you consider something to be 'overpriced'.

£1000 could be an entire years profit to some, or one 5 hour gig to another.

Very good point... I seem to remember saying this when a very unfair licence was unleashed only to be shot down in flames by some of the hight earners on the forum who said they did not want to subsidese the lower earners. Sorry A little off topic. But its late I have had a hard gig and I am grumpy Right! Good.....

Sorry

I use something similar, http://www.prosonix.be/shop/product_info.p...products_id=524 and the only danger is when you see all the slots you can fill and get carried away filling it :( But it is very handy to wheel in plug in and off you go.

A neat bit of engineering, but looks a bit top-heavy!

I would love one but funds do not allow! I have more important equipment to spend £600 on before i buy a booth haha.

The booth that Dukesy has had designed and built is excellent value.

Have a look at DJ@ or contact Dan (Dukesy) for more details.
