Hopefully, it's the start of a more enjoyable DJ'ing experience for me...I'm fed up carrying six cases full of CD's to every gig! [insert quirky comment]

vokf 0
Playing at my local this Saturday night. Load/Unload through a large side-window directly onto the stage, free drinks, and a fairly easy night for so-so money. Will be playing mainly modern stuff - which will upset some 50yr old regulars  but I'll probably put some oldies on towards the end... They are big Queen fans, and so will feel "Fat Bottomed Girls" will be played!

YourBigEvent 0
Friday - Day out to NEC, Birmingham for British Open Horse Championship (Gutted - Gadget Show Live in very next arena, I could have got tickets for that whilst everyone else when in with the horses). Saw Jason riding a great looking skateboard type thing, which looked like fun , although I was eating a Subway at the time, so I was probably having more fun... Managed to spend just over £500 on horsey things, so the question is would I have spent more in with Suzi and the guys ? Saturday - Wedding cake delivery done, back for the entertainment tonight, band on until 2230hrs, I do the last 90 minutes. Sunday - Blagged the TV so watching the football for a change. Monday - Paperwork Tuesday - Breakfast meeting at 0700hrs .....but what do I know ? deejaymitch 0
Camel racing...what's that?! How did the Saturday gig go? Same question! How did it go? The camel racing was a fun night. To explain it, first you need to understand the 2 different types of "Night At The Races". There is the classic video type, where videos of races are played on a TV with a dubbed commentary using fake names, which people bet on. Then there is the more interactive type. Where the dancefloor is turned into a racecourse by marking out a grid. Then 6 different coloured toy horses are placed at the start and two dice (one coloured and one numbered) are rolled to dictate which colour horse moves and how many squares it moves. This can be more fun as you get volunteer jockeys from the audience for each race. The night at the camels was like scenario 2, except they had made camels instead of horses. All in all the night went well. Saturday was less successful. The bar was very quiet for most of the night. In fairness the whole town was very quiet, probably due to an Easter hangover. And we had a decent crowd for the last 90 minutes or so, but it was very deflating. I've also been questioning my decision to go back to this residency purely due to the nastiness of people. In the previous bar I was lucky to have a small but regular crowd who never gave me any trouble. The bar I'm back in now is in a busier area with random passing trade. It's disgusting how rude and aggressive people have become. I currently have 5 options for Saturdays nights, and I'm seriously considering making a change. But I want to give this a few more weeks to see if I can make it work a bit better. I'm a DJ based in Northern Ireland with nearly 10 years' experience offering a range of services. Gary (GDK) 0
Punk 21st went great! Apart from a suagr paper dance floor, so it was a PC night and Virtual DJ crashed 3 times. Luckily always had a CD on stand by. Usual suspects got playedincluding Toy Dolls, New Found Glory, Offspring, Skindred. Mainly family, so was doing a song rotation system till 11ish, then family cleared off left commercial rock till 1am! All good fun really enjoyed night, and was bought a few pints to! Give you lots of business cards on the night so hoping to get quite a few rebookings off it.
