UKHero 0
This link takes you to the audio between Cactus 1549 and the ATC. Click this As some one very interested in aviation this makes very interesting listening and shows how calm pilots can be in an emergency. I found this compeling listening and wanted to offer you the chance to have a listen, hope you feel the same. Nik Edited April 26, 2009 by Nik Andrews Niks Roadshow
vokf 0
Just listened to it. I didn't realise that he was manning the radio AND trying to fly.. (the page says the 1st officer was trying to restart the engines) Impressive stuff!
BigBen 0
Did you see the documentary? You just take it for granted that these guys are trained what to do for situations like this. Turns out that they started going through the procedures but they didn't have time to finish them before they hit the water. The last step...to close all vents and inlets to enable the plane to stay afloat. They never did this and that's why it started to sink. This was an amazing story; the pilot really does deserve a huge amount of credit. [insert quirky comment]
