Dukesy 0
Been a while since this subject was last discussed. Anyone had a drink splashed near or over the decks or the speakers? Nearly had one of these close encounters not so long ago...made the heart skip a beat for sure!
vokf 0
I've had few close ones; New Years Eve, tight for space and using a small 2' stand. A few guys dancing with pints, and it did get pretty rowdy after midnight, but the guys were happy to put their drinks down when I asked them to. A pub gig last year had the local joker waving his pint over the gear- I firmly, but politely told him to move his drink away - when he carried on talking, I cut him short and repeated the request... The next stage would have been to cut the music, but luckily he walked away.. This was when I was using a PC+BCD3000 for playback, so most of the gear was flat for very vulnerable. On both occasions, nothing was spilt on the gear. My main playback system is now fairly well protected as its a swan 352 flightcase, so unless they tried to put a drink on top, or actually poured it, not much would be damaged. I'll do time if anyone damaged my mackies thou!
Norfolk DJ 0
Accident risks like this are in the T&C. even so, potentially diaster could strike. I don't tend to get many people ask for songs with drinks in their hands, unless they are bringing me one
NickF 0
Ive had no problems with customers at mobiles but i have a habbit of being in such a rush to have my drink just before the song ends i choke then cough and soak my own equipment :yuck: A danger in clubs is that in alot of places people approach from the front and stand on tip-toes to holler over the booth they put their arms over the top with the drink in their hands still and it spills over my CD's. Robster 0
every week they spill beer on my karaoke books or leave my karaoke books on a beer soaked table.. i have to tell customers every gig not to bring drinks up when they sing on the karaoke ..but they still do ..then they try to put them down near my gear too!! Takes a lot of policing on my part. Rob Star EntertainmentsFacebook pagelandline 0161 265 3421Mobile: 0777 99 777
deejaymitch 0
The damage done to karaoke books and the state they get into is scary! I've had a few spillages and lots of near misses. I've had to physically move/push people away on a number of occasions. What really hacks me off is people setting drinks on my (heavily vibrating) bass speaker. Idiots. I had that happen a couple of weeks ago, some cretin put his pint on one of my 1501's which subsequently fell off of course, and then had the nerve to complain at the loss of his drink!! :cense: idiots New Site Clouds Disco
keith holman 0
I had that happen a couple of weeks ago, some cretin put his pint on one of my 1501's which subsequently fell off of course, and then had the nerve to complain at the loss of his drink!! :cense: idiots hi all i opperate the policy that if the drink is put down on my equipment i pour it away!!! back in the dark ages of the 1970's/80's we had a slight slope on the front of our light boxes so that if a drink was put on them it would slide off and soak the erson who had just put it there, good for a laugh!!!
