My rig is small I've always thought, it normally takes me about 50 minutes to set up from unloading from the car to turning on the power and it is as follows ... 1 x Giraffe deck stand with crossbar 1 x Multi coloured star cloth 1 x Kam laser - crossbar mounted 1 x Moonstar laser - crossbar mounted 2 x Martin SCX500 - crossbar mounted 2 x Gemini moving heads - floor mounted 2 x Par cans - floor mounted on 'drum mic stands' 1 x Martin Freekie controller 1 x Smoke machine (where allowed) 1 x Bose L1 2 x Bose B1's 1 x Bose Tonematch 1 x Sony laptop with external hard drive. Sennheiser radio mic or a plug in (depending on gig) The scanners, Kam and moving heads are all controlled from the Freekie, so dmx cables are run throughout. The par cans are CA 8 controlled so again dmx cables are run. I once read about the evils of heavy drinking ................ so I've stopped reading COPYWIGHT: Elmer Fudd 1956, All wights wesewved. I have only had to do that once after some dipstick forgot to go to a kids school disco. 25 minutes from being at home to having some music blasting out as i assembled a light rig. Im thinking of building a pre-assembled light rig for my 4' giraffe stand that fits in my dispatch van. As the majority of my gigs are quite small a 1.8m rig with 5 lights would suffice, with the option of standing extras on the floor. average setup is 45 mins with 2 led parcans, 2 scanners and a miracled, depending on distance to van Richmond Karaoke & Disco - Professional Mobile Disco Service For North Yorkshire - www.rkdisco.co.uk

Are them Gemini moving heads the ones that whizz all over the place and look like cyclops.I like them ....they about £200 each. I put all myt effort into making the evenings work for the customers not flicking through manuals!!
vokf 0
My minimal set-up is; 2' Wide Stand 2 x Active Speakers T-Bar, pre-rigged with 2 LED based lights (Master/Slave DMXed) DynaRoll as Centerpiece Main Playback system (HDD Controller+Mixer) Black cloth to keep things neat. Thats about it :-) I could bring subs etc, if the venue/party needs more, but basically its a matter of plugging power in and switching on. We can set-up in 30mins, but can have background music on before that. If the clock is ticking and punters are waiting, its very useful having a system that is quick to set-up. DJ_Markstar 0
Thanks Jim and Vokf. Shows how much time I usually waste faffing around with things normally!! Quality stuff! It's always good to hear that a gig went well in less-than-great circumstances. What style(s) of music did you play to them in the end?

It was a Male 21st so mixed a bit of commercial club with Whigfield DJ Casper and that.Got an Ace formula 4 these sort of functions. If You stay in one genre all the night it don't work.Like I told the birthday boy.....not all of your modern music is garbage.....just 99% of it!!
