exbutlinred82 0
What a fine robust hardworking piece of equipment this is. It never lets you down and has far more sliders buttons and displays than your fickle amplifier. I've only ever had to ditch one and that was because I spilt half a bottle of smoke fluid in it. Please.....show your appreciation......For Your Mixer!!

Think you missed the spirit of the post.....never mind.Your Moulinex obviously has sliders displays and buttons....or maybe you don't call that thing that you plug into one end of your amp a mixer where you are?? gadget 0
Try telling someone who repairs them! I have an old knackered DJX700 that now only half-works. Just don't attempt to use channel 3 unless you want oscillations coming through into the main mix... all the VU's act oddly as well! (It needs to be skipped - but i've forgotten to take it 3 times to Bolton HWRC)... Might have something to do with a liquid accident.. :norfolk: Mm, seems to be drifting OT a bit! My kids like to mix... ... paints and stuff and generally make a mess :/ (grabs coat on the way out the door).. vokf 0
Food related jokes aside.. My mixer is a NuMark FX200. Its 5U 5 channels (I think!) with built-in effects. It can't do pitch shift (otherwise my kids would have endless fun..), but has a pretty good selection of reverbs, echo and phaser, the vocal removal is also useful. I recently did a garden party where a few guys wanted to sing Frank Sinatra.. One guy agreed that he knew the words, so I did the vocal removal on the track, and he sang over the top - very nice! The others just sang over the top, just as well.... they were pretty lubricated.. As its kept in Swan 342 flightcase, I also have an MP3 player hooked into a spare channel... just in case.. Batteries are kept in the toolbox, so a playback problem will still mean a minute or so of silence, but acceptable. I also hook my spare laptop up to the record-out, and this is used to run WinAmp visualisations on 2 monitors. What else - oh, Fader starts... Sometimes a bit of a pain, but for background or stuff where I'm not mixing, it makes things easier. Main gripe - no BNC plug for lighting! I also have an older NuMark mixer - this doesn't give Balanced outputs, but has a really cheesy 8-bit 90's sampler built in :toot: It does loops and everything! lol Anyway - I like the mixer, lots of knobs/leds and faders - proper DJ gear

exbutlinred82 0
I was devastated to loose the one I mentioned earlier to smoke fluid. I'd only had it six months.....It was a Warrrior.....about £300 with its own carry handle.

McCardle 1
Now we're talking! A REAL mixer. Yeah Cloud are great. Provided you don't need parts for them. :wall: . Recent findings and phone calls seem that i'm more likely to find parts for a 1950 Austin Seven, than I am for one of their 1990's mixers http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=24765 Think i'll stick to something cheap from Maplin. At least they use bog standard parts LOL. Andy Goodtimes 0
I must admit in many years I have only ever had 2 mixer problems, one was a TUAC Voyager and TBH I can't remember what happened to it and the other was a cheapo thing called ETP and that was because I plugged a faulty BNC light into it and it took the PSU down. Generally mixers appear to be the thing we overlook when carrying back-up, when my ETP went down about 10 years ago I never had a spare and was at the Moat House in Hanley and my mate Denis came from Cheedle which is about 10 miles away with his spare for me to use...I reckon he broke a few speed limits on that night Needless to say I now carry a spare. My main mixer is a Pioneer DJM3000 and its about 3 years old...so too my CMX3000 CD players and I do at least 3 jobs per week without fail and often 5 and never any problems...Don't think Kev has ever had them for servicing either. My spare is an American DJ Qspan which looks the part but I suspect its not that brilliant quality, however I'll be happy to use it if I need to. I have a Formular Sound PM90 which is modular so if ever there is a problem the modules can be changed very quickly. I have several mic and line modules so I can configure it for the specific event and I have spare power modules too so I'm well covered like that. I stopped using it though simply because it didn't look that good racked up with a modern CD unit and HD controller...The sound is very nice too as it uses a Hitachi Hi-Fi chip. All in all the Pioneer is fine for me, it has good effects and features, the sound is plenty acceptable and it would appear to be reliabel...very user friendly too. Oh...I forgot about 5 years ago I bought a Citronic DSP10-4 for my second show and got it home to find it didn't work so I took it back and the next one was duff too so I had a Tascam 1700 instead...still got that one too and it is a nice mixer. Dukesy 0
Anyone remember the MRT60's? Used to practice using one of them around 1990! It was blue and made an awful buzzing sound! Purchased a DJM500 in 1997 - that was a really great mixer. Replaced that with a DJM600, but the 600's echo fx is awful compared to the trusty old 500's! smile icon So long as the mixer does the job, feels and sounds good (and doesn't buzz!) I'm a happy bunny!
stardust 0
A&H Xone 4D Here I have been using it for around six months now and it is the best thing i have invested in. For what i do it is the perfect all rounder (laptop DJ, i also use Ableton Live and Reason) and on the analogue mixer side it is a matter of just plugging in a CD player or Ipod and you can bring more hardware into the mix as well as have multiple items available for backup purposes. oohh
deejaymitch 0
I have a few different mixers but last week used my American Audio Q Spand Pro mixer for the first time. I do believe I'm in love with it. I'm a DJ based in Northern Ireland with nearly 10 years' experience offering a range of services. Including club residencies, karaoke, pub quizzes, specialised wedding service, Master of Ceremonies, Compere, Night at the Races and much more.
Dream Catchers 0
Well I don't have a mixer, or speakers, or lighting, or wires........ sorry thats another thread. I have/had a Berhinger that I used as my main mixer, it was pretty reliable, however about 12/18 months ago the sound effects processor went faulty, it was easy to get the replacement and a doddle to fit too. Main back up was a Citronic 10:4, bog standard and basic, but reliable. The wife does swear by the Kenwood though and my brother has a big orange cement mixer too, but neither are much use for music. vokf 0
It was blue and made an awful buzzing sound! Surely that would be the '90 dance music? :lol2: Edited July 29, 2009 by vokf
superstardeejay 0
To be very fair, the Discomaster DM1200 is an absolutely ancient mixer, the faders are a rather odd Alps affair (on the one's I've seen) and I last saw them advertised in an old catalogue from 1992! The CXM uses all-standard parts and is easily repairable (it's meant to be, it's an install mixer). You can probably pick up an old 1200 off ebay for less than the cost of having yours modified to accept modern faders. http://images04.olx.es/ui/2/22/04/f_28571804_1.jpeg One of the most under-rated, under-used best kept secrets was Soundcraft's version of the Cloud CXM, I'm talking about the Soundcraft D-Mix 1000 modular. They're well worth a punt if you see one for sale and again are easily maintained if you dont mind dragging round a seperate power supply box. http://www.klompenboer.nl/Piraten/2008/Kooiplas%2019-09-2008/Kooiplas/DSCF7427.JPG Edited July 29, 2009 by superstardeejay . Andy Goodtimes 0
You're going back a bit there Kev, I have a D-mix1000 but haven't used it for years, mainly because its 8u and plugs in from underneath which makes it awkward to fit in consoles with modern equipment as you need clearence. I have all stereo lines for mine and also like the way the master module can fit anywhere unlike the PM90...I also have a couple of old Citronic mixers with seperate PSUs, a Hawaii Mk4 console in its original purple cardboard flight case with yellow lettering and an old NJD barn box style mixer amp..dunno why I keep them, guess its nostalgia and don't suppose they're ever going to be worth anything but I won't part with them. Also still got my first mic, the old Shure flat top with fixed jack wire and a nasty brown colour shaft.
Andy Dunn 0
I agree with SuperstarDJ on this one,Cloud CXM/CXF,A&H,Formula sound or the Soundcraft D-Mix1000. All brilliant mixers with excellent quality audio. I have got a preference for A&H though as I used to work for them in sunny(ha ha) Cornwall.
superstardeejay 0
Well an A&H is one of the handful of dead mixers on the bench at the mo! Still a current model, an expensive beast, it's one of the chinese ones. Edited July 29, 2009 by superstardeejay .
