DJ JENX 0
TOPIC MOVED Doing a 70s and 80s party tomorrow night, want it to be a good, fun party and need some ideas on who to play etc. Who was the biggest floorfillers then? what will i be asked for? I think I have adequate selection, but need to think of all the popular and then the unusual requests i will be having!! Cheers all DJ Jenx www.JenxDisco.co.uk -
Dream Catchers 0
The great thing about the 70s and early 80s was the amount of good music of different genre that has stood the test of time. There was loads of glam rock that still fills the dance floor, think of things like t-rex, sweet, mud etc. Then there is all the disco stuff, things like rose royse, candi staton, eath wind and fire etc. There's also loads of dancy stuff from the likes of bay city rollers, KC and the Sunshine band, tavares, the list goes on and on. There is loads of nostalgia about the music from that era so most things will fill a floor. Even think about saturday night fever and grease. Do a search for albums like the "I Love the 70s" or "I Love Disco" Jim
gadget 0
70s/80s is easier to work with than current charts IMHO, Perhaps its because I prefer that era...! Draconic Pride 0
70s/80s is easier to work with than current charts IMHO, Perhaps its because I prefer that era...! Fully agree with you there! My all time favorite 80's track has to be Huey Lewis & The News - Power of Love... A TRUE CLASSIC! And always seems to fill the floor each time I whack it on! Another of my favorites and a track I nearly always pull out near the end of the night... Journey - Don't Stop Believin'! Yet another true classic which seems to fill the floor! But you forgot to add Spitting Image, The Firm, Russ Abbott, Rusty Lee and we might as well put Divine in there for good measure. Going on previous posts you love the novelty acts it reminds me of a gentleman that used to come into the club that I work at in Maguluf in the 80's that was the sort of requests he used to make are you that man from 1985 ? Dukesy 0
What are Kecks? Never heard the expression 'Get yer kecks on / off" ?! Kecks or 'kacks' is slang. Has been used when someone is kacking it / kacking themselves (oops! brown alert!) Kecks or kacks have been referred to trousers. Not to confuse with keck or kecking, "To heave or to retch, as in an effort to vomit." But don't take my word for it - probably talking Kack (latin)! :funjokeandlaugh:

Kev.Roadies Disco 0
Kecks are indeed trousers in Scouseland (I'm an exiled Scouser) Ok, enough is enough. :damn: Any reference back to the halcion days of the eighties has got to include the Birdie Song by The Tweets and anything by Black Lace - Agadoo, Superman, etc. I played both on Saturday night at an 18th Birthday party!!! :blameless: Now that's what i call music!!! :funjokeandlaugh: Kev
