I have just got hold of pcdj6 it is very good

i have been using traktor for a while and it seems a little over complicated although very good, for instance the crossfader doesnt work, and hasnt done for ages.

with pc dj the front end is brilliant, and you can throw samples in very easily

one problem i usually have is i constantly have to search for songs using windows search facility

also what do people use for karaoke on pc format, i have generally used cdg player which is a bit basic to say the least, and it crashes about 5% of the time.

what does everybody else use.

I have used in the past Traktor, pcdj and virtual dj and a quick glance at serato scratch

In my opinion virtual dj is the easiest prog to use out of those listed and it is what i use consistently. I had it under the numark brand but upgraded to Virtual DJ Pro as numark were a bit slow on updates. Its just so simple and first time users can use it instantly. Its very mouse friendly and has all the facilities for standard users. it supports wma and aac so you can play your napster/i tunes songs from source. fantastic browser section with easy to manage playlists etc. The configutration menu is easy to use and it obviously does video and karaoke. Its easy to use various controllers and many are listed with the mapping done ready to go select what you want to use in the config menu and its job done

My only issue is that there has been a bug when searching for songs which has caused random glitches (usually 1 every other gig) but the song keeps playing then it takes about 5 seconds for the software to recover. I have been told this has been rectified with the latest update.

A friend of mine runs serato scratch and as an i.t. specialist he is very happy with that. Its not so easy to use and expensive in comparison (need to use dedicated external soundcard) but as he says its bombproof.

Whats the best? - Who can say - Its all about personal opinions!

I use PCDJ with the karaoke add on for karaoke.

When you say it crashes 5% of the time, that is once every 20 tracks, you have a serious problem somewhere.

I use vdj 5.2 at the moment and i love it,the only problem I have is that it does take a lot out of my pc when I run karaoke seems to suck the life out of it and tends to make it crash a lot, could be the program itself or that I need a cpu upgrade to handle it better

i have just started using virtual DJ ive not used any others so cant really make comparison, but what i will say is virtual dj is easy to use and so far reliable!

the samples are good, i done a 21st last weekend, beforehand i lent the parents of the birtday boy a digital recorder and got them to record birtday greetings from various friends and family and then saved them as samples and dropped them in over the music at various intervals throughout the night! it went down really well!
