vokf 0
Nothing here. I'm supposed to be travelling to Adu Dhabi (middle east) for my day job, however with Ramadan - entry Visas and security passes have not arrived and it is now their Weekend until Sunday. Not happy at all about being messed around- I should have gone in August, and turned away bookings as I thought I'd be away. However, if I don't travel until Next week, I'll spend some time preparing some some upcoming weddings.. Hope everyone who is working has a good one! Jason

MintyDave 0
saturday - another wedding and hopefully it will be a good night as the bride and groom have been very friendly and requested some party classics and a more informal approach Feedback Its often the case that you play the standard tunes then all of a sudden a particular track leads into something you dont normally do. Last night the first dance was blues brothers - everybody needs somebody and it went down treat. I followed with a bit more upbeat soul inc commitments, wilson picket etc and drifted in to motown and 60's. this was moderate as was the 70' and disco with stevie wonder (signed sealed delivered) and the jacksons (Blame it on the boogie) doing ok. abba - does your mother know filled the floor and Mr Brightside was requested which is not a bad follow on to the abba track. That lead into a bit of modern and classic indie. However the big turning point was a bit of old hip hop. MC hammer and Sir mix-a-lot was on the request list and along with house of pain and Jason Nevins Vs DMC the place went crackers. They had a good old dance off and i was in stitches with tears rolling down my cheeks. Truely amazing to watch. It goes to show that you must try something different on occasionas and break away from those 'safe' tunes. Ironically the standards like ymca etc were not as popular. davemoody 0
Things are picking up again for a change Weddings on Friday and Saturday, which went down a storm, cracking guests and great requests. Sunday had a low key 50th birthday which went well Managed to get a couple of midweek 80s nights until xmas to try and generate some footfall for a new pub/club in Birmingham. Only £250 a night but all the gear is in there along with a nice new oodj! Which I really want. Next weekend more of the same really. Just trying to finalise the xmas gigs which is looking quite healthy so will have to see how it goes. Nevewr quite happy until everything is signed.
