Not able to attend the BPM show - hope it goes well.

Ray, if you're not 100%, don't make yourself 'worse'.

HOWEVER, if the visit to the show is an opportunity for you to meet fellow DJs, then it would give you the opportunity to discuss informally any function cover you may need.

I'm currently working in the Desert in Abu Dhabi (well, back in the hotel now..)

Next time I'm in the UK complaining about a hot summers day -I'll look back to this trip! The kit I'm helping to install is "my" product - 2 years of work, in software, optical and electronics.

The system sits in the desert inside a fenced-off area with other process equipment. We're using solar power, and there is a celluar link back to the oil companies HQ.

Tomorrow should see the solar system commisioned. Today, I "bodged" a 110V connector into a traditional 4-way block (both Laptop and instructment PSU will run at 110V). Test data is good.

I've drunk about 6 liters of water today, and we were measuring 45C in the shade.

There is an air-conditioned cabin we can rest in, but we only stopped once.

:damn:

(obviously, those that are offend by messy set-ups should have looked away! lol)

Sunday should see my in the oil companies HQ, hopefully talking to their IT staff to allow a remote connection, so the server can communicate with the field equipment.

And then some software install/config.

I expect a few days of IT stuff, and then hopefully flying back to UK mid-late week.

Musically... Not much going on here. The hotel has a few bars, and there is an english bar (full of americans...lol).

My colleague is from Bulgaria and have made friends with a few other bulgarians- and the 2-piece band are also from Bulgaria. ...

The 2-piece play guitar, and the girl plays Keyboard, they are married to each other and both sing. Not bad - and they play a wide mix.

I was here a few months ago for meetings, and the old resident DJ was not that hot. The main problem was her was too busy chatting and drinking, so lots of long delays and silly mistakes. I think the deal is free food/drink/accommodation with wages.

I think he's moved on, the curent band are better - but a keen DJ would have been equally as good.

Anyway, its 6:30 here, so time for dinner!

Ray - take it easy Mate! Anyone else working?

Jason
