Teez 0
Norfolk, As I've only had 59 specific contributions so far I think I would struggle. Most of the party gigs I've been to so far have been split between background music and dance music. The 60 was to provide 3 hours of non-stop dance (in theory) and it excludes generally the top chart songs of the day (although BEP snuk in though it'll stay a classic). I'd like another 10/20 must-haves from the DJU crew so that we can argue about what stays and goes... Will keep the post running until it's fine tuned and have added a few more myself now. There are now 63 in the list The ????? are the ones that have been questioned as real dancefloor fillers (including by myself) 500 Miles - Proclaimers Billie Jean - Michael Jackson Blame it on the Boogie - Jacksons Boogie Wonderland- Earth, Wind and Fire Can't Get You Out Of My Head - Kylie Minogue Carwash - Rose Royce ???? Carmen 0
It depends as someof them are "singalongs" rather than strictly tracks that make people dance - though I guess if everyone is up with their arms round each other and singing or jumping up and down and singing - is it the same thing! LOL! I was trying to think of a madonna song that gets people up and dancing, the only one I can particularly think of that we've had requested is "Like a Virgin" but again that's more of a singalong song than strictly a dance song. As much as i dislike the Nolans track it works for my crowds and it is requested. I have found i get a better reaction playing it than say Can't Get You Out Of My Head - Kylie Minogue which was a massive tune but now has faded But i think regional differences and age of audience etc are also factors Rob Star EntertainmentsFacebook pagelandline 0161 265 3421Mobile: 0777 99 777
Scottydunk 0
I have an regular job in a popular pub up here caters most ages but it seems to be the younger ones who ask for it, its gone full circle I get women of a certain age asking for Alexandra Burke or Lady Gaga and the teens/early 20s asking for all the 'cheesey' stuff. Its all so confusing :lol

Accept the age thing, but you also mention regional differences. I can understand Welsh, Scottish and Irish tunes but do you think that this also crosses into the National Charts too? I can understand say why Jo might get played more in the North East this Christmas but do you (or anyone else) think there are regional differences in the timeless tracks category?? Robster 0
well i am guessing in Liverpool they will like the mersey sound of the 60's and a " timeless classic "will be one of there regional tunes. In Manchester we had the Madchester stuff ,Happy Mondays , Stone Roses , James If i play sit down by James i know it will get people dancing same as step on by the happy mondays or sally cinnamon by the stone roses but would those go down well in Liverpool for example? I would also echo Scottydunk's experiences that it is often the other way around with young un's asking for old cheese and middle age ladies asking for chart stuff. oh...what about dancing to closing songs like... new york new york - sinatra never forget - Take that Edited December 22, 2009 by Robster Rob Star EntertainmentsFacebook pagelandline 0161 265 3421Mobile: 0777 99 777
