Dj's United

Hello From Milton Keynes

Recommended Posts

Hi all I was a mobile DJ back in the early 80s and I have that urge to do it again. I still have got my trusty old Citronic Thames 2 and a pair of nice Martin Audio ICT300 speakers. My father in law is going to lend me his pair of Peavey Impulse 500 speakers (500w RMS each) and a Mackie FR M1400 Amplifier (1400w output), so that will do me for starters. I have a dual core laptop with Virtual DJ and about 500 gig of mp3s from my old records so I am nearly ready to go apart from a lightshow. I like the look of the American dj revo 4,a nice bit of kit?and I like the idea of DMXing it up with some other lighting. so any advice about them would be great!

I also need a deck/lighting stand and I have seen them for about £100 +.Star cloths look a good idea as well.

If anyone’s selling some second hand gear I could be interested.

I will have a look at the play lists to get a idea of what to play but my ultimate goal is to do a residency playing real 70s/early 80s soul and funk in a club or pub

Thanks guys

Hi Gary,

Welcome to the forum!

Consider getting pairs of lights with DMX. Even if you don't get a controller, most will do Master/Slave and will give you a good show without getting bogged down with DMX technicalities.

I have the LEDJ starcloth, and really can't recommend it :( Out of all my purchases, this is the one thing that I'm unhappy with.

I hear the NDJ cloth is much better - but have not seen it.

Cheers!

Jason

welcome

many djs like / use purpose made deck stands from ultimax or giraffe, the stands can be covered at the front (d.i.y.) with black cloth or painted mdf etc. frontage such as pro-starcloths or deck booths are not cheap but look really professional.
