Did a small wedding party last night, bit strange as it was 2 weeks after the wedding. It turned out to be a bit of a reunion for me with quite a few of my old school chums (a few girls i used to fancy) and loads of people from when i was young free single and sent all of my days in the pub. Very nice venue, will post some pics today and the alternativce playlist - No Abba - No Motown - No Disco - No Chart :crap:. Very nice

it was hard in respect to dancing as we yorkshire folk dont really dance and considering the amount of men to women it was going to be hard.

Tonight have a 50th in a scruffy local Club, karaoke and disco.

top requested tune last night was - stray cat strut - Play it....i know you want to

Its bad... I always offer advice and I say community centres are better than pub function rooms! But does the client listen?! LOL

Just managed to pull myself out of bed from lasts event. They kept the bar open till some rediculous time, hence my nice lay in (and throbbing head this morning).

Last night I did 'a benefit' disco. I wasn't sure what to expect but it ended up going really really well. A right variety of people there so there was a good variety of songs being played.

The benefit was for a local fella who passed away just under a year ago and they were raising money as he still didn't have a headstone. He was only 34 and left behind lots and lots of family and friends who all turned up to pay their respects.

I did think that it was going to be a bit of a sombre affair, but they were all actually in really good spirits.

There was a couple of uncomfortable episodes:

1) I was talking to the widow who asked for 'Town Called Mallice', as it was one of their wedding songs - which I did obviously, she left the dance floor in floods of tears.

2) His daughter came up and asked for 'My Boy Lollipop as it was one of his faves - obviously I played this as requested, EVERYONE got up and danced to this, then when it finished you could cut the atmosphere with a knife as I think that about 90% people were in tears.

I had a quick word with the venue owner before just to get the background as I didn't want to play something like JLS - my heart won't beat again, if this poor fella had died from a heart attack, or Live Forever if he was currently seriously ill in hospital. Found out that it was just something that went horribly wrong in an family argument. Husband had gone out, wife didn't want him to, he got seriously pished, she locked him out the house in a mood, he slept in the front garden, he died of hyperthermia during the night.

Makes you think hey.

Anyway, please don't take this the wrong way but there were a couple of teenage girls with downs syndrome there who were absolutely brilliant, them two alone kept the dancefloor moving all night! Anything that I played they were up dancing their heads off! I was talking to one during as she wandered into 'my area' - she was soooooo nice, but wanted me to play Peter Andre.

So, great night had by all (hopefully) - I spoke to the widow afterwards and she said it was just perfect.

Needless to say that my fee for the evening was donated to the family - so I came away with less money than I started with (as I stayed for drinks afterwards), a hangover, .......... but very happy that all my fee will hopefully help someone who needs it much more than me.

Nothing for me :-(

I've been busy fitting IEC plugs to my ParCans. I've got a bunch of IEC Y Splitters, and 5M IEC extension cables.

Will be playing with them later.

Currently listening to "The Pixies", as they are requested on a wedding I've got on 25th June.

Pretty good stuff!

The Request is for Indie/Rock/Pop (and I think that is the order of preference!). We've got a meeting planned, and the are providing a playlist.

Other than that- been preparing for a wedding next weekend.

Friday night was a fundraiser for a local community group which I did for a HUGELY disocunted fee. There was a night at the races first so I only played for about 2 hours. It was a really good night though with a great mixed crowd. So there were some challenging mixes when I was moving from Scooter into Garth Brooks :funjokeandlaugh:

Saturday night was my residency which was horrible for most of the night. For some reason almost every single customer was incredibly rude and demanding. I know of at least one who has complained about me to the venue management and, just my luck, she picked a manager who despises me and was instrumental in my sacking from the venue a while ago. I know she will take great pleasure in making a big deal out of this.

And the reason for the complaint? Well this girl had asked me to play "So What" by Pink, which I happily agreed to do. The bar was fairly busy and I had a lot of requests but her request was due to be played within 4 or 5 songs as it was a good fit with what I was playing at the time. However, on hearing that the VERY NEXT track I played wasn't her request she decided to walk to near where I was (she didn't even have the courtesy to come up to me again) and shout from about 10 yards away, with several customers between us) "Where's my song? You're supposed to be an effing DJ" (She swore, I've censored it).

I tried to explain that several other people had also requested songs and I was trying to accomodate everyone fairly, but it was quite difficult to shout that across a dancefloor to an uninterested, obnoxious scumbag. So, for that heinous offence, she has made a complaint that is bound to be turned into a big deal by a hateful, jumped up little Hitler(ess).
