geoff1960 0 Posted April 5, 2010 Report Share Posted April 5, 2010 We've just installed a uhf cordless mic into our flight case and there is lots of static when the mic is being moved around the room and on occasions just when moving the mic away from my face, this problem occurs regardless as to whether the mic is live or muted. If the problem's loss of RF, then the squelch should capture it long before receiver noise makes it to the output. If it doesnt, either the squelch cct isnt working or its badly adjusted. If the squelch is triggering legitimately, we must assume loss of (or poor) RF performance. If you're confident its ok when its well clear of the case, we must assume either there's something it doesnt like about it (ie its somehow shielding it or causing reflections for example) or else the setup has lost sensitivity and is more susceptible to such flightcase effects that it otherwise shouldn't be. Have you got another transmitter with the same frequency, or can you borrow something that can be adjusted to the same frequency, just to prove a point? How old is it? Something as simple as an internally detached aerial connection can give poor RF performance, but really it could be anything at either end at this point. . Link to post Share on other sites
