vokf 0
Just been checking for DJ's copying text from my site. I've found 2, and one is a DJU member. Firing off an email and PM now... I've also emailed the other. Apart from sheer laziness, it really really annoys me. Does anyone have this problem? One offender is claiming to be a member of DJ@ - which I doubt considering the entire text from my FAQ page has been ripped off... The DJU member has ripped off my "Contact" page, word-for-word, but with the link to my own "contact form" is replaced to a link their their email address. Both sites have their telephone contact details on them, so I'll be following up my email with a call tomorrow to ensure the copied content is removed before the weekend. :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: Jason
AlexEntertainment 0
Just been checking for DJ's copying text from my site. I've found 2, and one is a DJU member. Firing off an email and PM now... I've also emailed the other. I know how you feel jason... It's annoying!! It's so frustrating when you do all the work.. which can take days and weeks... for some little oik to come along and copy and paste! I've just searched and seen one of the sites you mentioned and shocked that it's so blatently copied without any changes to try and hide it !!!!! Out of interest, how do you search for copied material?? (PM me if you like) My way is simply using google at the moment..... ------------------------------------------- Web : http://www.alexentertainment.co.uk Web : http://www.alexskaraoke.co.uk Phone : 07525 645750 / 0800 612 4979 email : alex@alexentertainment.co.uk --------------------------------------------
vokf 0
Hi Alex, http://www.copyscape.com works well, but has a limited number of checks per domain per month. There is a paid-for version. You can also use google, if you highlight a paragraph on one of my pages, you'll quickly find sites that have exactly the same text at the top (with the matching text in bold). The 1st guys did "unlink" the page, and have a new site. I'm keeping an eye on it as the did respond quickly after I fired off a few emails. I'm expecting the normal "dunno, our web guy did this"... As google can do this, there may be a plug-in for Joomla- or at least a script that uses the google search api to automate this a bit. Currently, I've only got a few pages on my site, but the new site will be much larger and difficult to track.. I've also run a check on carmens salsa site and my web development site - no-one was impressed by the content enough to steal that! lol
Robster 0
copyscape have a on line checker but has a limit of searches and plagiarism checker clicky one of the people copying your content is on a facebook page the other is a web site it is so easy to re write a page based on someones but to directly copy is just wrong ..Does anyone know if he is a DJ@ member? or is that just a copied thing Rob Star EntertainmentsFacebook pagelandline 0161 265 3421Mobile: 0777 99 777
vokf 0
I'm not going into if he is a DJ@ member (I don't know or care - but will PM DJ@ Admin to make them aware). I'd also like people not to post any links to their sites, or mention usernames/details. This is a fairly common problem - and actually interesting that my poorly written copy has been stolen 3 times, whereas content from my other sites is (apparently) not been copied! Anyway, I'll update with the results - I'm sure that I am not the only one who has this problem. Jas
Disco Johnno 0
If one of these is a DJU Member i find that pretty disrespectful ever since i have been on this forum i have had nothing but great help and advice from people, so im sure the people who have done this if they lack the skills and knowledge to build there own orginal website there is enough help and advice from the memebers on here John Horton Website: www.discorevolution.co.uk Email: dj@discorevolution.co.uk Tel: 07850971035
Teez 0
Hmmm, that's very naughty. It's no consolation but the website I tracked down is a rubbish design and he can't even spell the word professional (says something). I would be more concerned if he was in the same catchment area as me. If he isn't, then personally I think website copyright is a leaky bucket and if it isn't affecting my business then I'd rather sleep at night. Just trying to help with an alternate view. :joe: PS: Says on DJForum that he retired last year
AlexEntertainment 0
I see that the info has been removed (according to google anyway)... Nice one Jason :) Glad you got a good result. (Did you have to call them in the end? hehehe) Only one has removed the content. The other has a voicemail from me.... Not currently worried, but are keen to come down hard on offenders. I will be faxing a DMCA take-down notice on Google this weekend (unless he gets back to me)- its easy, and they do comply... Jas
deejaymitch 0
I'm actually getting a bit concerned that no one is stealing my content. I know it's not great and I haven't put much effort into my site, but it's not that bad!!! I did a search on that copyscape thing and got excited when I found that one of my pages had content that appeared on several other sites, including those of members on here, but it turns out we all just copied the same text from the DJ@ site!!! I guess maybe that should be my goal, do enough work on my site to make it good enough for people to want to copy it. Either that or I could just steal Jason's!!! I'm a DJ based in Northern Ireland with nearly 10 years' experience offering a range of services. Including club residencies, karaoke, pub quizzes, specialised wedding service, Master of Ceremonies, Compere, Night at the Races and much more.
