Its the gig i've been looking forward to all year (since last April) and what a night it has been for very different reasons.

Local school yr 11 prom - 250+ hyped up kids what more would you want

However there is a story - I was booked by the nominated organiser Jim who i know and lives 3 doors away from me, we spoke several time to confirm the date and times etc and he didnt want any written confirmation as as he said we know each other and he could shout from his doorstep if needed.

Off to plaster my mothers ceiling this morning i saw jim outside of school and waved out of the van. On my way home i saw jim again out side of school with some balloons etc.

Nothing unusaul there you may think. However i was booked to do the prom on Thursday 29th April and was rather shocked when i rang the school to find out what time i could get in on Thursday to find a very confused receptionist casually stating it in fact was...... tonight.

Oh no i said out loud - The blood drained from my face and my hands started shaking - nothing was ready, no light rig, no new lights, no music sorted, the van was full of building gear, and i was covered in plaster.

Anyway a mad rush round and a few panic phone calls we got there. it took 1 1/2 hours to set up up a 3m goalpost rig with 4 led par cans, 2 scanners and 2 gobo flowers with controllers and the power side of the soundsystem, with another 30 minutes to add the playback systems. access to the venue is horrific!

it was all worth it, what a night. 250+ hyped up 16yr olds bouncing to some top tunes. What a buzz.

I have to give a 'big shout out' to Andy at his point as not only did he help with everything but he came up with a mix that should go on the wall of fame

Prodigy - Warriors Dance

.....and...........

The Macarena.....The boy is a genius! The crowd went absolutely bonkers.

Pictures to follow, nothing exciting as the smoke machine wouldnt work.

Prodigy - Warriors Dance

.....and...........

The Macarena.....

It wasn't from Warrior's Dance - although if you remember, we did have people doing the Macarena dance to the breakdown in the middle of Warrior's dance, much to my amusement/confusion/despair.

The actual mix was from House of Pain - Jump Around into The Macarena. I had them beat matched, and kept teasing the crowd with the first five notes of Macarena from about the second verse onwards - they all knew what was coming, so when I finally brought it in properly at the end, the crowd just went wild.

Good times.
