It was bound to happen sooner or later! Both Paula and myself have achieved fame on another forum... with thanks to a DJU member!

 

Big up the faceless individual (well he thinks he is faceless) - problem is, he is soooo scared of being caught out that he has had to remove most of the pages on his very own website to try to conceal his identity! Vince you are truley a gem!

 

At this moment he is finding it so very exciting to try to engage in a "trivial arguement" (his words) that he has got to post all about it on the other forum! What a very exciting existance he must have!

 

Well, both Paula and myself are glad to be seen as an air head and a witch... we've both made extremely good livings out of being them. One day when you grow up little vince you might achieve the same success... but you had better start off by trying to locate a brain... or perhaps get that overwhelming chip off your shoulder! Perhaps if you were a man you might share your feelings about us on this forum... rather than run away to another and do it there! I also heard that you were going to start your own forum... Eunnochs united wasnt it?

I suppose we should find it flattering that he is using this forum to pick up top advice then going back to his forum and posting it as his own! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

Ive just been having a read..... should really be called idiots R Us.... their favourite words seem to be poo and crap... which just about sums up the forum! Even their members are saying how bad it is.. no moderation... etc!

Lets not turn this into a "them and us" battle, since that will be dropping to their level. There are far more effective ways of dealing with this. particually if anything he posted is untrue or damaging in any way.

Crispy, we have far more interesting subjects to talk about than trashing other forums.

 

Having read quite a few topics on their forum, I dont think we have an awful lot to worry about. From the nature of the posts, it is quite obvious that it is a childrens forum and I really doubt that there are any actual jobbing djs on it.

 

One thing I did find was that seem to appreciate our moderation.. it appear that we are complimented on it... they say its strict, but thats the way it should be.

 

One other thing that our DJU member should know is that Chris does not make any money out of this forum whatsoever. This forum is obviously affiliated to CSL in the same way as their forum is affiliated to their sound and light company. Any orders chris receives via the forum are neither solicited or marketed.... members ask for a price which chris then gives and it is up to the member to decide whether or not he wants to place an order. Even if Chris did use this site to obtain orders... why not? Its his forum and should he choose to use it as a marketing tool for CSL good luck to him.

On the subject of using the forum as a marketing tool.

 

it's a well known fact amongst anyone involved in online sales, that one of the best forms of internet marketing is to have your own forum/message board to build a loyal community.

 

I think it is a testement to CP's integrity that he chooses not to do this, even though I doubt too many members would complain if he did.

 

I wouldn't mind seeing the offending posts myself, however I've got far more important ways to spend my spare time http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif

 

This is an excellent foru, the most active and the most constructive...and fun as well you can't beet it.

Good quote here, none of us can be blamed for posting anything rude or offensive about any other forum, but it does become unfair when you read about someone slagging off another!

Very true, however I find it amusing that these unfounded allegations are being made on a forum which is run by a company who SPAMS me on a regular basis. For the last 9 months I have been getting 1 - 2 emails per week detailing special offers (Usually on Wednesday) from their company. I have never entered my email address into any database of theirs which means that its been harvested from elsewhere. Since by sending me commercial, unsolicited emails, they are not only breaking their terms of service from their own ISP, but are flouting the new EU Legislation on spamming as well. So in warm gratitude for the number of potentially damaging posts which are allowed to lie for a while on their own forum, i've reported their spamming activities, along with email headers and their IP number to the relevant authorities, informing them, that I will be seeking renumeration for every spam email I receive from their server.

 

Its also worth noting, that posting on a forum is not as anonymous as you may think. When you post, you leave a paper trail back to your ISP via your unique IP address which is logged. This can then be used to identify you from your billing information. ISP's have a very strict terms of service agreement, that forbids any user making libelous, untrue or damaging or harrassing activities whilst using their service. Even with posts made on another forum, it is easy to tracert the webhost who hosts the forum, send a complaint and a snapshot of an offending post ot them and they will usually be happy and quick to hand over the IP address of the person who posted it in order to avoid becoming liable themselves. The result, I have the IP address of the person who made it and the ISP they were connected to at the time, I send a similar complaint to the Abuse dept of the ISP, and they deal with you accordingly. At best you can expect to lose your Internet Access, at worst you become liable for any damages arising from the incident. If you are under 16, and engage in such activity, then usually your parents will get a letter from the ISP detailing why services have been removed.

 

In other words, you are not invisible when you post libelous material - in fact your ass is hanging out from the minute you click "Post" http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/scared.gif, if you have a domain name registered for your website with a .co.uk address, its even easier to find out the address of the website owner. Simply do a WHOIS lookup on the domain name and in most cases your personal address is listed for anybody to see - try it yourself.

 

Posting honest opinions and making a legitimate complaint about poor service from a company or product, are one thing. However, if you have / do post anything libelous or damaging which is untrue, then I rest assured that I will put in the effort to contact the forum host and contact your ISP and I do know exactly how to go about it and own the software to do it. Comments made on a public forum, which are considered damaging to any person or business can prove very costly to the individual who makes them.

 

As i've pointed out previously, if I wished to make any serious money from this forum I could be spamming you with special offers lists and posting prices and giving you the hard sell, at every opportunity. In reality, I rarely post prices or tout for business UNLESS I'M ASKED TO. I even made a post yesterday recommending a product (Stageline) that I don't even distribute for. Yes, this forum pays its way and if it didn't I would be charging you for membership or using porn pop ups http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif - but breaking even is as far as it goes, and I have the accounts to prove it!. I always try to give unbiased personal opinions and have even slated a product I sell (A' la' Denon for example) so how these individuals are going to prove these publically posted allegations when the time comes to do so, is going to be very interesting http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif .

 

Needless to say, I am now taking the appropriate action for the more serious allegations made on 2 other forums since I consider them extremely damaging, I don't allow DJU members to actually mention the names of these forums and slate them here, so perhaps the Admins of the other forums could be professional enough to extend the courtesy to me or risk the consequencies. I know that some of these members are also active here on DJU and possibly reading this now. I know exactly who you are.

 

The reason this forum is moderated so well, is that anybody who owns a forum / website is now legally responsible for its content. If one of you were to post an untrue allegation about any company or link to an illegal file or activity, then I would be legally obliged to remove it, or risk further legal action. Like it or not that is the fact of it. By running an unmoderated site, and from what I have seen, some forum owners are skating on very thin ice. If somebody were to post something publically about your business which was untrue, you would expect me to remove it quickly, and I would have to. However, some forum owners seem to think that they are above this obligation, and so a more direct approach to their webspace provider has been made.

 

The level of moderation on the forum is here to stay, no matter how much the minority may complain about it elsewhere, moderation will only ever effect you, if you are here for the wrong reasons. Discussions on topics such as How to Burn Karaoke CD's and where to download the top 40 on MP3, and who to buy copied DMC Discs from, are illegal and technically advocate piracy and eventually likely to get the attentions of FACT, Trading Standards and BPI, who are far more apt at closing down websites than I am http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif . Any forum who allows this sort of discussion to remain are just being irresponsible. The rules and moderation on this forum don't only exist to protect my interests but yours too!.

Its ironic that one such forum has had to post to ask its members if they are receiving spam from a certain sound and light company.... funnily enough not one of their members said they had...! Wonder how they got around to asking that question in the first place!

I really don't think that we need to devote anymore of our bandwidth and time to their problems. I have already dealt with certain issues in a correct manner and no doubt certain people will have some explaining to do.

 

I'm going to close this topic now, I believe that the other Admin has finally seen sense and now deleted the defamatory post regarding Karen and Paula.
