Hi All,

I've had my website www.dingledjs.com online for a few months now and I'm still not showing up on google searches unless I use very specific search criteria. I have registered each page with google, as well as google maps, and have followed alot of advice I found online about content and tags etc but have had no luck getting any traffic to my site. I'm just wondering is it worth paying a specialist contractor / company to review the site and do some marketing for me. I'm happy enough with the content of the site, I need to add some more pictures and I'm working on a video for the homepage, but even as it is I think most people looking for a DJ who come across my site would make an enquiry, but what use is this if they don't come across my site. A group of local hotels who do alot of weddings came together two years ago to form their own site to market weddings, they asked me for 400 euro (250 pounds) for a link, which I gave them, they are no1 ranking on google when you search for wedding DJ's in my area yet I haven't had a single click through since I joined two months ago :damn: . I'm beginning to think all the time I spent putting the site together has been wasted as it hasn't generated any business at all really. Has anybody any advice on this matter, or what are your experiences of web marketing. I would add that I built my site using weebly, a U.S. hosting firm, so I suspect this could be a factor but don't know enough about web building to know how much of a factor it actually is.

Im no expert at all on this but i have looked at your site and code and think you can improve traffic with some simple additions

Firsty where are your target areas, Local or Whole of NI. You have very little mention of the words DJ, wedding DJ, Mobile DJ, Mobile Disco etc etc and specific locations in your content, which are common search terms. Also stuff like this can be thrown in your meta tags, there is a rumour google will be ignoring meta tags at some point but its worth having them in.

with my site if i search for a disco in my town im up there due to the content. My site is just a single parked page until Andy and i find the time to develop the site so there will be improvents.

also have you sat and waded through all the free dircetory sites adding a free ad, this helps too

As i said im no expert and i may be talking :crap: but the above worked for me

Thanks Dave, will try to add some common search terms throughout the text but have been advised to not overdo it, as google actually penalises stuffing text with search terms. Will look at some free directories too i'm on a couple but any of the reputable ones want money, which is hard to justify given that I have already paid a fairly sizeable sum to a good directory with no results whatsoever. Thanks again

Not a great deal but as we are a small town its not surprising. Like i said if you look for a karaoke or mobile disco in Richmond, im there. To market properly using the web i would have to have a serious think as i need to target lots of small market towns over a big area. North Yorkshire - Englands largest county with less than 0.5 million people. At the moment we are just using a bit of web presence to fill gaps. I have picked up enough bookings thru the site inc rural wedding venues as anywhere west of me is severly limited on DJ services (and people) and google maps has us being one of the closest.

The guy who is doing the site has recently changed jobs and he is busy with all sorts so we cant take on any more work at the moment. We plan on doing something for Autumn and Christmas.

I would suggest choosing your directory sites carefully. Simply adding to every listing site out there is not going to help, and recent google has definitely shun away from link farms that used to work.

Unique content, does help, and getting links from "expert" sites also helps.

Looks like you're using Weebly as host? Have you filled in all of their tag forms too on the admin page ?

I also understand your traffic goes up the more links to your website are placed on other websites. So go to as many free directories / forums as you can and register your details and over time that should help increase traffic.

As daft as it may sound you could create some more free weebly sites (Google will recognise simple cut and pastes and ignore those so make sure they are at least slightly different) and make your own cross references. Seing as you are paying an annual subscription I think you can create quite a few and just keep the free website addresses ie www.weebly.com/kerrydj , www.weebly.com/dinglediskjockeys etc etc etc
