Tonight I'm out at my residency from 9pm till 2am.

Normally start off with classic rock and a few chart numbers depending on who is in. Often do a bit of classic dance midway through the night ending on chart or rock depending on how the night is going.

Tomorrow I'm doing a private function (Wedding) 7pm till 11pm

Not too bad as it's only 10-15 minutes down the road.

Annoyingly though my lighting is being a bit iffy at the moment so I've managed to get a retro lighting setup from the local masonic hall (Yes, the local masonic hall lol)

I doubt that their retro setup will fit in the car with my sound system so it's going to mean either 2 trips or convince the mother-in-law to let us use her 4x4. We shall see how it goes.

I'm quite looking forward to the wedding actually.

I haven't been supplied with a playlist, but finally got a call last week when they had decided on their first dance.

Their daughter rang asking if they supplied me with a homemade CD if I'd be able to play it for the first dance.

My response was something like "Of course, but remember I am a DJ, so I'll probably have the track you're after kicking about somewhere"

"My mother is Turkish, so it's a traditional turkish track"

"Erm, yea, I'll take the CD if you don't mind!"

The venue I used to have a residency at until January is just over the road so I've been toying with the idea of popping over when I'm finished and packed up just to see the look on their faces. I'm still actually waiting to be sacked by them. In their exact words... "It's a bit quiet at the moment. Have a few weeks off, we'll ring you when we need you back!" They did the same to 3 of their other DJs as well! They just kept on 1 regular DJ and got a new DJ in. Grrrrrrrr!

Sunday night is back to my residency. 9pm till 1am

It's in the same place as Friday night, but you get a completely different kind of crowd in. Where Friday is mostly rock/chart... Sunday is pretty much mostly dance!

Wedding in Hertfordshire today.

1pm set-up, need to leave venue by 3pm for arrival of wedding party.

Back up there for 7pm, 1st dance at 7:45 due to photographer wanting to get away.

Midnight ending, a dance-friendly playlist of about 25 songs, and 250 guests.

Saturday: 18th in Bishops Stortford area. Very good playlist (apart from one or two...lol) and about 50 guests.

My first 18th... but it sounds to be fairly sane with a good mix of modern and older music.

Not taking subs, which is a bit of a shame as "Pass-out" sounds (and feels) fantastic when run through them :D

Sunday.. recovering! We've had a busy few weeks with Website, Kids, Meetings, Van trouble, and work.

Carmen may be out on a ride-out with her scooter chums, so I'll be having a lay-in.

Monday evening - Client meet for wedding in early Sept.

Setup this morning for a wedding this evening at Hanbury Manor in Ware. Whilst setting up the winch on the lighting stand broke......luckily the stage is very high so don't need to winch it up. just ordered a new one for delivery on Monday.

have a very large playlist ....mainly cheese

During the setup I gave a card to someone who was there looking at the venue........hey ho ....got a booking for next year.

Nothing else for me this weekend as getting ready for my sons wedding next Saturday

Wedding last night.

Was fun.

Although as to be expected there were crossed wires between the bride, groom & bride's father about the order of the night (time of first dance, buffet, speeches etc)

Also...

If there's one thing I hate more than a really really really drunk groom...

It's a really really really drunk groom, who used to be a DJ!

All in all though it was a fun night. Also the first night in years where after a gig I haven't gone out clubbing or veg out in front of the TV with some booze and McDonalds to chill out!

Well saying that, the missus made me sit downstairs and drink a bottle of wine with her till about 2am! I just wanted to go straight to bed!

I keep forgetting what it's like to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights!

I have no idea how I managed to DJ Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday and Sunday nights last year!
