In a moment of madness whilst packing away on Sunday Ive managed to mix all my kettle leads up and now I'm not sure what goes with what :wacko:

So I've got a QSC amp (1850HD) is that a 13amp? 10amp? 5amp? I've looked on the net and in the manual an it doesn't seem to say. Don't want to use the wrong lead and damage anything.

Also got 2 acme dynamos and not sure what leads go with them :stu:

Any help is appreciated as always :dukesy:

Best use a 13A fuse if you're going to be driving it hard...

Thanks although I've no idea how you worked that out, that may as well have been written in chinese to me

I've written on 3A 5A 10A or 13A on top of the plug on my IEC leads (usually on the PAT label - easiest to write on then).

Easier than trying to work out what lead is what!

I used to throw all IEC leads in the one bag - now I put them away with their respective items - makes it a bit easier to connect up Amp to speakers as all the speakons, Mains and XLR's to the mixer are in the one flight case (just squeezed in the back!).

Cheers,

David

Hi!

Its written on the table on Pg 2 of the PDF;

Power Requirements

Typical, 1/8 power pink noise at 4Ω* = 6.1 A

Severe, 1/3 power pink noise at 4Ω* = 11.2 A

Acme Dynamos, probably 3A fuse for 100W (100W versions are internally fused at 3A).

Best to pull out the manuals for this stuff- a CE requirement is that the power is listed (Watts or Amps)

Also... make sure you've got spare fuses in the tool box and DVM for checking them...!

For yours - severe usage is 11.2A (at 120v). For 230V (UK), then the severe Pink Noise power usage is 11.2/2 => 5.6A

You could use a 10A fused lead which would give you full "headroom" mains-wise, and the IEC connector is rated at 10A anyway. Although its more-than-likely that a 13A fuse would be fitted into the plug...

The Amp will have probably come with a "fatter" IEC cable than normal too.

You could always write "AMP" on the plug top too? :)

For your dynamos, these will be 250w mostly? If so a 3A fuse for these would be fine... (if running singly), unless you're running a splitter cable (one plug 2 or 3 IEC connectors), then 5A would be better...

You can use 1.1A = 250W as a guideline... (1kw = 4.4A A)

Cheers,

David

* = 120V don't forget (according to the manual!)

So they make other amperage fuses than 13 now !!

:(

BS1362 fuses? There's even a 2A fuse to add to the mix too - (or at least there was when I was a student - back in 1994-5).

2A, 3A, 5A, 10A, 13A

7A plug fuse? Now I didn't know that existed.. (and who on earth has one?!)

I couldn't even find that in the Farnell catalogue!
