Help - I Don't Know

Hi guys,

 

I've got a bit of a problem and need some outsider advice...

 

With BPM around the corner, I've been asked to represent an american company who produce a well known event planning program (Not mentioning any names to avoid advertising)

 

Anyway, I'm there for ALL 3 days.........!!

 

Looking at past pictures of BPM I can see most people are very casual in their attire, including the traders.

 

The guys I'm representing think I should wear a suit.... I'm not so sure this is a good idea and might put people off coming over to chat to me!!

 

What do you guys think?? What would you wear if you were in my situation?

Something smart like a suit, or something more casual like black jeans and a logo'ed polo shirt perhaps?

 

I want people to feel comfortable coming over and chatting to us.... if that makes sense.

I actually think a suit is a good idea.

 

you are demonstrating and are the physical representation of a professional business tool.

 

you are not demoing lights or sound kit so you shouldnt look like a roadie.

 

I worked in sales and some times i was casual but mostly shirt and tie , this gave me more confidence and reinforced the quality of what i was selling.

 

jewelers dont wear flip flops and shorts when selling million pound diamonds and i dont expect mc donalds front of house crew to wear white tuxedos either .

 

I think a suit is the right attire for business planning software , you can always take off the jacket and a shirt and tie looks smart too.

The other option I thought of was....

 

Black Trousers and a shirt.... no tie, perhaps a jacket if needed.

good quality suit - and shirt no tie can work

 

relaxed yet professional. also depends - i am more confortable without a tie - yet still smart in suit - so i come across the best.

Since you are there marketing a product, how about wondering around wearing something like this! (then it won't matter what you wear underneath)

It's their first time at a UK show... in the US they wear suits to conventions (I've seen the pics )

 

I think ... trousers and smart shirt (perhaps a deep purple )!! You guys are right, image is everything and as I'm the Front man I don't want to look like a tramp like I usually do :)

Wouldn't have thought it a problem - they asked for a suit, wear a suit.

 

You can strip down later, but not dress up, if you don't take a jacket.
