Hey guys.

I'm looking for a new lighting stand solution. i have 3 T bars and did have a goalpost stand with the T bars on each end, however, I was setting up for a wedding a few weeks back and the goalpost stand complete with my lighting rig came forward and onto the floor with me underneath...... one of my iMove200s took the brunt of it all.

I also have a deck stand with lighting bar across the top, but don't feel it is sturdy enough. Can anyone suggest a good wind up strong lighting gantry/goalpost type thing. i have a star cloth etc. which i used to hang on it too.

Cheers guys.

eeek... hope all the rig is ok, and so are you!

i have a 4ft deckstand which hangs:

2x Martin Mania SCX500

2x Martin Mania SCX600

4x LEDJ56 Par Cans

1x Martin Mania DC1

1x Martin Mania DC2

used to have a wizard in the middle before i had the scx600s so afaik they are pretty sturdy, although i do get rather scared at times.

i've heard that rhino & doughty wind-up stands are quite good and decent, just stick a truss adaptor on the top and mount some trussing maybe?

It should be sturdy enough, but you must make sure that you donot exceed the recommended weight load limit

Ultimax are pretty good deck stands.

I think if you want a very heavy duty stand, you generally have to pay a good few quid. Doughty have been mentioned, along with trilite truss. These are generally used in the theatrical lighting industry and designed to take pretty hefty loads.

+1 for Ultimax stand. Ok the overhead is 0.5m shorter than the general Kam / Rhino / etc. but I love it (2.5m accross as opposed to 3mtrs accross). To be honest, 2.5mtrs is just right for me, plus I can use one side as a t-bar only if I'm limited on space.. (normally use just a pair of datamoons in this case)..

Cheers,
