Did a gig tonight in the hotel pub a guy liked my night so much he booked a function room for 52 people hotel rooms for 20 people all with three course meals for his company Xmas do as long as , and only if I'm the DJ! first time i have seen him tonight ..the hotel manager begged me to ! lol he hates karaoke but likes the takings... so that's a Saturday i had free booked now! best ever referral i have ever had ..these people his staff know how to party and have fun ..so much easier than some tough crowds lets hope the night is even better!

its interesting how little response has come from wedding fayres in the poll and agencys and traditional press too seems we all get work from the same sources

I had a referral via a friend's friend a couple of days ago, who had heard that I did a good job a few months ago for another friend I know (keep up with me!).. I have no idea quite what was said, but they wanted to book me before even speaking to me...

Needless to say, they booked and I visited the venue (which is almost on my doorstep and very nice inside), met client and picked up deposit & signed paperwork...

What's also interesting is that this friend's friend knows at least a couple of other DJ's but recommended me over the other two...

Cheers,

David

It certainly pays to do a good job......I have just received a booking for February for a 30th birthday party from someone who's wedding I did 2 years ago, they were referred then by their Auntie who I did a 50th birthday party for 3 years ago, they were referred by a friend who I Dj'd for prior to that........so proves that whilst advertising helps. doing a good job and getting referrals is far more important. If I don't get a booking from at least 50% of the gigs I do I would think something was wrong.

The oldest swinger in town....... probably. Happy Easter.. well I have seen easter eggs in the shops

Agreed. Two gigs in December are referrals of some sort - one is a previous customer and the other was a recommendation above.

Even more interesting, they're both for Doctors/Nurses/Healthcare people (!)

Most of my bookings come from my Wedding marketing - I get mailing lists from two sources and I write to them. This works especially well if I have a Wedding Fair coming up and I invite them to "come and say hello".

The other source that brings me lots of bookings is networking with other DJ's.
