its a vista print design... but it doesn't look too bad.

Good site but needs a few tweeks IMO, the 'about us' heading really should be in the main menu bar, on my site I just basically do the about us on the home page and don't have it as a heading. Maybe a few paragraphs about yourself, how long you have been a DJ etc would be good. Your homepage doesn't say enough for me. You have lots of pics throughout the site which is great. I like it, if I was looking for a DJ and came across your site I would make an enquiry. I think using a vistaprint format is fine, customer won't know the difference and I think it looks well.

 

One concern I might have is that the site is a little complex, you have lots of headings and pages, under the Crazy idle gary page there are links to a further 7 pages, under rock your party there are links to a further 10! I doubt many potential clients will take the time to read through it all, If I was you I would condense the site into no more than 8-10 pages altogether, Homepage / About Us, Services, Contact Us, FAQ etc. If I was a potential client looking for a wedding DJ I would have to navigate through the pages until I found the Weddings page under Rock Your Party, surely you should have a Weddings page in the main menu bar, also you do photography, again this page needs to be more accessibe, the site is a bit of a labyrinth at the moment. Just my opinion, but overall the content for a good site is certainly there.

This is going to sound harsh but isn't meant that way at all

 

For me all this comes down to if the investment in what we would like to have as a web site in our dreams and if that would be worth it the answer is no so we all compromise and get the best for the money time and effort.

 

This site is a good generic vistaprint website with great piccys and the content is good but it doesn't have Garys personality , or feel that i get from his posts or the sense of fun .. but the site i imagine in my head would cost thousands ..that's why with my own site, i made compromises and used templates etc and it doesn't reflect my personality

 

so we are left with doing the best with the funds and tools at our disposal and from that i think you've done a cracking job.

 

Most dj's do the same things with the same headers,

as a parent i quite liked that by having different sections for ages , that you show how much you know about kids/ and entertaining kids of different ages ,one sort of party does not suit all , i personally liked that a lot especially the 11+ page ..your right try treating them like "children" and your going to be in trouble!!

 

I would have thought two sites might have been another approach , a specialised kids focused one , then a adult , corporate hire site with different looks ,one fun and bright, the other serious and smart but again its about if the investment would be worth it, if your booked up it hardly seems worth all the effort

 

sorry i sound a right big head critic , i know nothing... as can be seen from my site! lol

 

couple of things ..do you use vinyl and turntables ? because the header image implies you do

 

and on the karaoke page i don't get this

We do provide microphones, at the time the cooking utensil most of being a good idea!

 

As i say on the whole i think its a great site, please dont take my ramblings to heart or personally

Ive had no choice but to go down to the template feel... I'm useless at web design etc, and general marketing is not my strongest point either.

 

@Kent Discos - There is a gallery! Just not the kids site.

 

@Mickey - Thanks for the input. Having seperate pages for kids parties is important as they require different games etc. I have taken on board the comments about me page etc.

 

@Robster - Don't worry about sounding harsh! I've tried putting some personality into it, but I've stopped selling myself more than I'm worth. Unfortunately money is a bit tight, and having another website isn't an option at the moment, but something I can look forward to in the near future.

 

I have taken your comments on board lads, however before I make any edits I'm gonna let the thread run a bit longer.

FOr kids parties btw, I held a free party invited friends and families kids and got them to sign a disclosure for permission for the photos.
