Help 16th Birthday Party

hi help needed im doing a 16th birthday party in march,what or wot do 16 year olds listen to.

by the way im 35 and only been back doing disco's sicne nov.

You need to get a playlist from them to point you in the right direction, at that age they can be really genre specific in their tastes, it's too much of a risk to turn up without knowing beforehand. I recently did a 16th that was all Greenday, My Chemical Romance etc. Could just as easily be Dubstep etc though.

 

If they're not too fussy about their music you'll probably be OK with the last few NOW collections and whatever's in the charts at the time.

 

A bit of classic cheese works well sometimes with the younger crowd.

its RnB all the way round here with the occasional indie/rock/clubland type stuff

 

cd pool seems to hit the nail on the head for me for the latest stuff with the classic cheese - Cha cha slide, macarena, s club 7. I also look back to when they were 11-13 at their youth club disco era and pick a few forgotten gems

Hello, newbie here.

 

This could have been me asking this question! I have just got back into DJ'ing after 5 or so years. I gave up when I relocated from south London to Aberdeen, started again when another DJ up here needed some cover, and now have residency in a pub and get all their functions.

 

I have a booking at the pub on the 25th Feb, and it has been sprung on me that it is for 13-16 year olds!!

I am much more used to adult crowds, and have no idea how to fill 3 hours. There is only so much N-Dubz and Katy Perry you can play!

basically if you have now 75,76,77, floor fillers 2010&2011/clubland 16,17 and the latest from itunes you are sorted. Thats exactly why i subscribe to cd pool. I do quite a few school discos and i find that even older birthday parties demand all the modern gaga/perry/peas/cruz/stryder/derulo/rhianna tyoe stuff.

 

i will post a playlist soon as on the 15th and 16th feb im doing 2 in a row.

With the language thing it really depends if adults are going to be there my daughter is nearly 15 & loves dance stuff (anything David Guetta ish) rap & r n b. If it was her 16th she would expect the unedited versions as would most 16 year olds, if its a 13th then yes be more careful what you play.

I did a 16th & asked for a play list & they asked for mostly chart stuff but a couple of months later I did a 17th & they wanted all rock AC/DC etc, so definately get a list & I wouldn't rely on a parent as quite often they don't 100% know what there kids are in to.

So, I did this gig on Friday night and don't know what I was worried about! They danced from the first to the last record. Plenty of requests from the kids, including a request from a 13 year old boy in a bow tie for Black Sabboth!! Watching 60 kids dance to Paranoid was a special moment!!!!

my sincere apologies, i meant to throw a playlist up. truth is we have had a bit of a rough time in the last few weeks on a personal level and had 1 of the gigs cancelled with poor turn out for the other. i ended up not doing the gig myself anyway.

Hi all

The 13th party whent really well even the regulars to the social club enjoyed it.

Well it must of whent ok as i have bookings for a wedding and new years eve also the club where the party was at have asked for my card so i must not of done an ok job.
