funkymook 0
If it's just adding a bit of popular reggae to you record box then get a Bob Marley and UB40 Greatest Hits and any one of the hundreds of 'Best Of Reggae' type collections. If you want to go any deeper than that then you are heading more towards specialist tunes (great if have the right audience). I can give you a list of what I usually play but they wouldn't work for most 'average' functions (and I'm by no means a specialist). In the meantime I'll post a few of the popular songs for you in a minute... http://www.indieretrodj.com http://www.souldisco.co.uk
Robster 0
I often at one residency play a reggae sub genre dancehall and flow from dancehall into traditional reggae and back into general chart stuff , this works in that venue but for general functions the excellent recommendations by funkymook are well worth looking into dancehall faves of mine are dutty wine by tony mattherson , murder she wrote by chacka demus and pliers , get busy these can move to current tracks that flow like serani's no games and gyptians hold ya save the last dance soundtrack has a few songs from dancehall to hip hop to r&B so these work well as bridging songs going from one genre to the other. but i am only a karaoke host so defer better and more in depth knowledge to my more capable peers... unklbrian 0
Ohh Boy , one of my fav styles !!!! but a can of worms - "reggae" covers many styles , and depends on the crowd your playing to .. if its a older 'general crowd' try some from these Super 70s Reggae - EMI VTDCDX 726 - a good primer 3cd box of early/mid/late 70s uk hits [not much Marley tho] The Trojan Story - METROCD 518 - a bit more 'eclectic' , but good floor fillers for old Mods/skins etc , Also look out for Prince Buster - FABulous greatest hits - TJCCDD 071 , [NOTE - there are at least 3 different versions of this cd - this one is 18 track & good 'cuts'] --- this will help playout SKA ! SO SO many that i could go on for hours !!!!
