spinner 0
Earlier today I was speaking to someone I know who does magic some of the time and belongs to a local club for magicians. He told me that last time he went to a meeting the general consensus was that work is much scarcer this year and that it's difficult in most branches of entertainment. Not just DJs then. g-bace 0
I think the whole entertainment/hospitality industry is struggling. When you walk past a pub thats offering a meal for £1, it yells desperation to me!! :fear:

Robster 0
The thing on the news that they kept mentioning ..what was it ..wait ..it will come to me...oh yeah that's it recession ..do you think that has a baring on anything. Almost every industry is suffering but that's not to say there is not work to be had , found or created i saw a magician selling tricks in the local shopping centre , he now sells tricks to boost his income and while demoing them he got a few gigs and i took his card and bought a few tricks myself at one consultation i had a client say she wouldn't mind a table to table magician i said i knew someone and gave her his details a few weeks later I got an enquiry and it was the magician who recommended me sometimes you can magic up new enquires! yes its quieter but keep the faith be inventive and stay strong and lets ride this recession out my friends. on a personal note i have been in bed for three days.. i collapsed when i got home from my Saturday gig , I have flu a bad gout attack and according to my doc it seems I have also rheumatoid arthritis i have been in excruciating joint pain until this recent medication but it looks my days of lugging heavy gear and standing up for long spells are dwindling not the prospect of not doing a job i love is more depressing than lack of work but if the medication doesnt work or my condition gets worse then i may have to seek other work Rob Star EntertainmentsFacebook pagelandline 0161 265 3421Mobile: 0777 99 777

Take care and I for one sincerely hope you recover soon Dave Richmond Karaoke & Disco - Professional Mobile Disco Service For North Yorkshire - www.rkdisco.co.uk
Robster 0
cheers minty that's really appreciated , I won't be giving up without a fight though! Today I have had no voice at all and I have had to cancel at my residencies this weekend BUT even though I cant move up and down stairs just yet or speak I have had my logo redesigned , got a client meeting late next week for a gig in October and this new medication is amazing stuff , I have been in pain for a long time and thought it was gout attacks it seems it was something else the pain is really manageable at the moment .. if I can keep it like this and get my self fit (i need to loose a few stone) then i wont be giving up any time soon. djing when its going good is a brilliant ,really rewarding job , yes getting work maybe harder and we all grumble and get down at times but the thought of not doing this job really hit home how much i would miss it and what i need to do to keep on doing this great job. cheers again minty ..really nice message thanks matey Rob Star EntertainmentsFacebook pagelandline 0161 265 3421Mobile: 0777 99 777
