i tried going from amp to speakon, then running a jack lead from the Jack through" to the "jack input" of the second speaker and it didnt work.

You really need to open up the input panel and take a look at how it's wired internally, or if you're any good with a soldering iron then parallel toe speakon input to one of the jack sockets.

Don't forget that if you link two 8ohm speakers together, you halve the impedance down to 4 ohms. Make sure your amplifier is happy to run a 4 ohm load. Also be aware that your amp will be running twice as hard (and twice as hot) so make sure it's serviced, the fans are clean and it's free of dust.

my amp is fine to run at 4ohm each side, i dont fancy opening up the back, there must be a simple way of daisy chaining these. any help would be appriciated

I don't mean open up the amp, I mean the speakers.

You have got to see how they are wired up before anyone can tell you what to do. If you bought them second hand it's very likely that somebody has been inside them at some stage, maybe to change a socket, maybe to repair the crossover, maybe they disconnected the jack sockets altogether.

Only way to find out is look inside the speaker!

I'm Afraid Fester is right, in order to help we need to know how the speaker plugs are wired. You could do this with a meter, but opening the back and taking a look is easier. No need to mess with anything at this point.

I also think Fester is probably correct about modifications. If the internal wiring had not been changed your initial “Speakon - ¼ Inch Through” should have worked.
