Sources For Suitable High Guage Speaker Cable

Well I've been reading up on damping factor, and how big a part cables play with the damping factor of a system.

My amp (QSC GX5) has a very modest damping factor to begin with (just 100), so in order to conserve what little I have, I will need fairly beefy speaker cable.

 

I already have some good quality 12 AWG, but from what I understand, 11 AWG or even 10 AWG cable should make quite a noticeable difference.

 

Would it be worth upgrading to thicker cable?

 

Can anyone recommend a supplier?

 

The best I have been able to find so far is this, which seems expensive for only 11 AWG:

I also came across this 8 AWG cable (I guess I'd have to carefully remove a few strands to connect the speakons, but I don't see why this should be a problem), but I'm not even sure if it's copper?!

Also, will I need to match the length of the cables on both speakers? Obviously I'll try to keep the cables as short as I can.

Sommer Meridian 2 x 1.5mm speaker cable is where it's at. It'll cope with just about anything you throw at it.

After more searching I actually found some 2 x 6mm squ. last night, which I've ordered:

I'm surprised you can get away with only 2 x 1.5mm. You must have quite short cables or an amp with a high DF to begin with? Have you tried thicker cable to see if it sounds better?
