Another oldie newbie!

Hmm, didn't spot this 'introduce yourself' section previously, and have already dived in on a couple of topics elsewhere, so thought I might as well be courteous and introduce myself...

I'm another dj who's been around quite a while but strangely enough on here I don't feel quite so old http://www.chrispointon.f2s.com/Forum/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

I started off in a Reggae sound system in Sth London in 80/81; for those not familiar with them, you could say it's the reggae worlds equivalent of mobiles. except normally each speaker is about 20ft high and pumps 10,000 watts and the speakers are stacked to the ceiling ...and that's just the tweeter section http://www.chrispointon.f2s.com/Forum/html/emoticons/tongue.gif

From there I moved into 'conventional' mobiles from around 83 in north London. I managed to break into the west-end club scene in 85 and was then offered work in Spain in 86 on the west coast. After that joined Bacchus/Juliana's and was lucky enough to work in clubs & radio all around the world until 98 when I returned to the UK. Was bored of the club scene by then and so returned to mobiles, but on a slightly more professional scale then when I was doing them in the early 80's; seeing that I now have PLI, PAT, booking forms etc and am using an mp3 mixer, which is a far cry from the BSR belt-drive decks I started with http://www.chrispointon.f2s.com/Forum/html/emoticons/tongue.gif

It's still a buzz, and I keep saying I'm gonna get a 'normal' job, but I enjoy it too much... plus the dosh ain't bad either http://www.chrispointon.f2s.com/Forum/html/emoticons/wink.gif

Hopefully I'll meet a few of you at the TVDJA meeting on sunday, if I can make it out to the countryside http://www.chrispointon.f2s.com/Forum/html/emoticons/cool.gif

Hi Eskie, welcome to Mobile D.J Chat

Possibly one of the good things about this forum, is being able to share those old memories about the old gear with people who have been in business for the same length of time / or longer than me http://www.chrispointon.f2s.com/Forum/html/emoticons/smile.gif
