This weeks DJU Interview is with Steve......

How long have you been DJ'ing?

29 years

What inspired you to become a DJ?

I thought it would be a fun way of meeting people and playing some great music and also a chance to travel the world....its been all those and more:)

What type of "Do" was your first gig?

The first gig I ever did was when I was 14, it was a gig in a small bar in Dublin, playing US imports like the Fatback Band etc!

How much did you charge (Mikeee please convert this from Shilings and pence to decimal when its your go..)

for my first gig? £20 plus a supper and as much Baccardi and Coke as I could drink!(I drink water when I'm working nowadays!)

What equipment did you have to begin with?

pair of Garrard Sp25 turntables, a Roger Squires mixer and amp and speakers!

Whats the worst/most embarassing thing you've done in front of an audience?

nothing I can remember:)

What is your favourite type of function now? EG: Wedding, 18th Birthday party, funeral wake..

Weddings Hen Parties Stag Parties etc etc, also do quite a few niteclubs as well:)

Is there anything that you include in your show now, that you wish you'd done/known when you started? (Not equipment, but in human/performer terms)

well every gig is a learning experience even after 28 years(and counting)

What do you feel you offer your public, that makes you a better DJ than "the next guy/girl"?

Quality sound and music, lots of fun and party games, and willing to listen to what the audience needs!

Have you ever bought something for your show that you wish you hadnt? and why?

nope

Whats your next DJ purchase likely to be?

mp3 player

If you could get someone to invent a new piece of disco equipment for your show, what would it be?

smaller CD and Record Boxes!

What do you think is the best thing about DJ'ing.

It gives you a chance to bring hapiness into people lives, and also gives you a chance to meet some great people!

What do you think is the worst thing about DJ'ing.

nothing:)

What would make you stop DJ'ing (if anything).

nothing, I still get the butterflies in the stomach before a gig, plus theres always great new and old music to be discovered!

How do you think DJ'ing will change, in the next 5 years?

I think the House and Garage clubs, will return to a more general entertainment policy

Most stupid thing anyone's ever said to you at a gig?

nothing

Best advice you were ever given by a fellow DJ?

Be nice to everyone

Name 3 songs that 95% of the time will fill you dance floor!!

What was your reason for becoming a DJ?
